Objectives
In the framework of the LAMIKA project located in the eastern part of Carrefour Feuilles, American Red Cross would like to conduct a survey on the water quality of existing water points in the area (see map attached). The objective of the survey is to help us to have a better understanding of the water quality there, in order to better inform our decision regarding water access options in the area. The water technician is a temporary consultant that will collect field data for ARC GIS department to produce ground water quality maps.

Survey Content
The consultant is to:
1. Work with ARC WASH Coordinator to identify the selected wells and water sources
2. Measure the GPS coordinates and map each well, water source and kiosks
3. Due to possible variances in the measurements of the well samples the following task should be repeated 3 times a day on day 1, day 5 and day 10;

• Measure the water depth of selected wells
• Take samples of the water points and measure the Physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters.

4. Take samples of the water in the ravines at 6 different locations on at least 3 different days
5. Within 24 hours of water samples being taken, testing and measurement of the physical and bacteriological parameters (coliforms, PH, conductivity, total nitrogen, BOD etc..) with the equipments provided by ARC.

Deliverables:
1. Produce a narrative report in French / English describing the process and methodology
2. Produce a spreadsheet summarizing the results.
3. Work with ARC’s GIS department to produce maps of the laboratory results

Timeline
The process should take approximately 12 days work over 4 weeks.

Contractor’s Qualification
We are looking for someone with background on chemistry and great experience in water quality control and the use of the Delagua Testing Kit and a spectrometer. In addition, this person should be familiar with guidelines for Water Drinking quality.
