USAID has launched the Haiti WASH project to support the scaling of sustainable WASH services in the country—and, ultimately, to ensure that greater numbers of people gain access to water and sanitation services. DAI’s systems approach to the Haiti WASH project is built on the understanding that these services occur within complex, changing local systems where consumers, utilities, service providers, and government intersect and influence each other, continuously reshaping how the WASH services function. Accordingly, DAI proposes a systems approach that emphasizes building solutions from local knowledge about why services work—and why they do not—and will start work in each commune with a dialogue around systems mapping and a shared Service Roadmap.
As a subcontractor, Ayiti Nexus will provide key staff, offer strategic guidance on communications, monitoring and evaluation and knowledge, collaboration and learning. Ayiti Nexus will work with the DAI team to develop sustainable services, leveraging the investments that USAID and other donors have already made in infrastructure, capacity, and the enabling environment for WASH in Haiti. Together we will facilitate the development of new skills, partnerships, resources, and knowledge within the sector—while strengthening the underlying systems so the improvements are sustained.
