Introduction

Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health (MatCH) is a division of the Wits Health Consortium under the School of Public Health of the University of the Witwatersrand. MatCH is a consortium partner implementing the EQUIP project. EQUIP is an international grant to implement projects in five key solution areas - innovative models of ART service delivery; innovative approaches to support viral load scale-up; strategies and technologies to more effectively identify and link patients to treatment, foster ongoing adherence and retention; identify approaches that respond to the needs of key populations and promising “Test and Start” strategies in countries in Africa, South East Asia and the Caribbean.


Fonctions

Main Purpose of the Job
The incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic and technical oversight for pediatric HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment activities. He will serve as the focal person for providing assistance for the scale-up of pediatric care and treatment services, including the development of comprehensive strategies to follow-up of HIV exposed infants, identify those who are HIV positives and improve linkage to treatment for HIV infected infants and children in line with 90-90-90 goals.

Key Performance Areas
• Provide technical support to the National AIDS Control Program in the revision and/or updating of national guidelines related to pediatric HIV care and treatment and PMTCT, including protocols, algorithms, training materials and related standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with USAID funded implementing partners to provide technical assistance at regional and site level to improve Early infant diagnosis for HIV exposed new-borns and infants.
• Work with Implementing partners and supported sites to design appropriate strategies to improve linkage to treatment for HIV infected infants and children in line with 90-90-90 goals.
• Support implementing partners in providing capacity building, training and mentoring to improve health providers’ competencies and scale-up pediatric HIV treatment and care services,
• Provide onsite technical assistance to improve clinical management of paediatric HIV
• Provide technical assistance to improve data collection, reporting and data utilization for clinical and programmatic decision
• Participate in stakeholder meetings, events and campaigns.

Qualifications Requises

Required minimum education and training
• Degree in Medicine, with speciality in Pediatric
• Proficiency in English (level IV)

Minimum work experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in providing clinical care to children with HIV, TB and other related conditions, including at least 2 years in providing technical assistance related to pediatric HIV care and treatment, PMTCT and Early Infant Diagnosis
• HIV clinical care service delivery.


Conditions particulières

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
• Master degree in Public Health.
• Strong knowledge of clinical issues related to the management of HIV, TB and other related conditions in children, including early infant diagnosis, ART, and PMTCT.
• Strong and demonstrated experience in training and group facilitation.
• Experience in implementing continuous quality improvement methodologies
• Data Management experience.
• Computer skills (MS Office package).
• Fluency in French and Haitian Creole.
• Willingness to travel extensively including in remote areas
• Ability to handle a varied, busy and pressurized work load with competing demands on time.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels.
