SUMMARY
FINCA seeks a Project Manager for a large scale financial inclusion project in Haiti, focusing on women’s empowerment, gender equality, delivery channels, new product development, staff capacity building, and customer research activities.
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating project activities according to predetermined timelines and budgets. Managing project teams and a variety of internal and external contributors, reporting to the project’s funder, and ensuring quality control throughout the project’s life cycles are central responsibilities in this position.
The Project Manager will centralize and oversee project information, work with contributing teams to ensure timely, high quality execution of activities and deliverables, and coordinate the project’s outputs to keep the project on time and within budget, monitoring its progress closely and flagging any issues that arise, for the attention of the FINCA Canada project management team.
The Project Manager will be based in Haiti, and will report to the COO at FINCA Haiti, as well as to the FINCA Canada Project Manager.
Fonctions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Planning
Works with COO and FINCA Canada project management team, as well as internal stakeholders, to complete the project implementation plan and annual work plans—outlining the scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget, and timing of the project—in consultation with key project stakeholders and in line with the budget and activities agreed upon with the donor;
Provides a schedule to identify when each task will be performed and will send reminders of critical milestones and deadlines to contributors;
Serves as a focal point for internal project contributors in Haiti, ensuring their input is received per project timelines for appropriate project document retention, recording, and reporting;
Identifies potential risks that may affect timely deliverables of project activities and monitors on an ongoing basis, flagging any concerns to the project management team as they arise.
Management
Manages project development from initiation to closure;
Clearly communicates expectations to team members and stakeholders;
Identifies and resolves any issues or problems quickly throughout the project life cycle;
Effectively manages project scope by ensuring any changes to the scope are documented and approved by pertinent staff with appropriate documentation;
Leads project meetings, conference calls, and other communications, including monthly update calls with the project’s technical leads and project committee meetings;
Ensures follow up and follow through on action items from all meetings.
Monitoring and reporting
Develops tools and best practices for project management and execution;
Tracks and reports on project milestones and provides status reports to all key stakeholders;
Monitors all activities to identify problems or issues and addresses them proactively with the project’s technical leads and the FINCA Canada Project Manager;
Gathers information and data from the project implementation team to compile monthly status reports, files all project documentation, and drafts narrative and financial reports for the donor;
Documents key lessons learned and findings.
Budget and accounting
Manages monthly liquidation reports to ensure spending is on track and does not exceed budget;
Coordinates budget documentation, and keeps all appropriate project document filed in an organized manner for retention, recording, and reporting purposes;
Monitors and reports on project expenditures against proposed budget and schedule of deliverables;
Tracks and reports contributions of internal project contributors and consultants.
Qualifications Requises
COMPETENCIES
Project management expertise, including experience with Smartsheet or similar software;
Ability to work effectively as part of a global team, communicating clearly and managing relationships with senior managers and team members;
Excellent writing abilities and strong verbal communication skills in French and English;
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks;
Ability to work proactively, take initiative, and work independently;
Detail oriented, committed to accuracy and thoroughness.
Job Requirements
Education and experience
Undergraduate degree in international affairs, international development, business administration, economics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree an asset;
At least 7 years of relevant work experience;
Experience managing donor funded international development projects;
Knowledge of international development and foreign aid industry; familiarity with microfinance preferred.
Language skills: Fluency in French and English required.
Computer skills
Expert in MS Office: Able to generate work plans, schedules, and budgets using Excel; able to create presentations using PowerPoint; able to draft professional reports in Word;
Comfortable using Visio or other process mapping software.

Travel within Haiti. Some international travel.

Ability to travel in economy class when traveling by air or rail.
