Introduction

This role will be primarily focused on ensuring SCI STANDARD 51: Fleet Management are achieved.

51. Fleet planning is completed and documented annually. All owned vehicles have relevant legal documentation, safety and security equipment and preventative maintenance schedules. Vehicle performance is monitored, documented and analysed to ensure a cost effective fleet.

This role will provide fleet supervision of vehicles and associated equipment’s for Save the Children’s Camp-Perrin Office


Fonctions

• Responsibility for the Sud vehicle fleet operation in line with SC and local fleet transport policies
• Ensure correct utilisation and allocation of fleet across the programme.
• Oversee vehicle planning and allocation.
• Central management of vehicle records.
• Analyse and check fleet data on running costs, utilisation and recharging.
• Ensure all vehicles are regularly serviced and maintained in line with these procedures, manufacturer’s recommendations and warranty requirements.

• Day-to-day management of the fleet (vehicles, bikes, boats & generators) assigned to area of operation.

• Ensure vehicles have correct equipment and sufficient fuel for the planned trip.

• Manage fuel, fluids and spares stocks as required.

• Manage fuel and maintenance contracts as required.

• Collate transport requests and complete daily & weekly movement plan.

• Complete and update daily vehicle movement and service board and ensure vehicles are tracked when away from base.

• Ensure planned preventative maintenance (daily service) is carried out to a high standard with minimum disruption to programme activities.
• Ensure all drivers are briefed and have signed the SC policies and procedures where necessary.

• Ensure rental vehicles are fit for purpose and that hired drivers have an acceptable level of skills and are briefed on SC policies and code of conduct.
• Ensure rented vehicles’ and driver’s contracts are complete and correct.
• Collate and analyse all fleet data and forward to Logistics Manager in accordance with set time lines.

• Maintain and update all required records and paperwork for vehicles and drivers.

• Manage drivers and mechanics in area of operation.


• Conduct 100% monthly Driver’s Licence checks.
• Conduct 100% monthly check of vehicle accessories for serviceability.

• Comply with the requirements of Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy to ensure maximum protection for children.
• The post-holder will comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child safeguarding, safety and security, code of conduct, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.
Additional job responsibilities
The job duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.


Qualifications Requises

Essential
• Certificate or Diploma in Mechanics.
• Substantial experience as a mechanic.
• Proven experience managing a fleet and line management of drivers.
• High computer literacy level with expected proficiency in Word, Excel and Internet.
• Ability to work independently, take personal initiative, and multi-task including strong facilitation skills in an ever changing dynamic operational environment
• Strong administrative and organisational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in an operational environment.
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
• Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in French and Creole
Desirable
• Technical experience/training in other areas of logistics: storekeeping, local purchasing, power/energy
• Written and Spoken English

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

In addition, he / she will have to know the local procedure for complaints, the protocol of the safeguarding of the child and the Code of Conduct of SCI indicating rules of behavior of every day as much in the personal life that professional.
