Introduction

International Medical Corps (IMC) is a global, nonprofit humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives and alleviating suffering through health care, relief and development programs such as managing cholera cases related to Morbidity and mortality. It offers assistance programs in a responsible and effective manner in pursuit of their commonly held charitable purposes. Founded in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, apolitical and non-denominational organization.
Our mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacities in areas around the world. Providing training and health care to local populations, providing medical assistance to those most at risk, and the flexibility to respond quickly to emergencies.
International Medical Corps is present throughout the world in more than 35 countries including Haiti.

Through the proposed International Medical Corps (IMC) action will support the identification and treatment of severe acute malnutrition with and without complications and the prevention of malnutrition and deterioration in severe acute malnutrition in children from 6-59 Months through capacity building and supervision of nutrition activities. To this end, the International Medical Corps is currently looking for a Deputy national nutrition to manage the project at Fonds-Verrettes office for its project funded by the European Commission (ECHO).


Fonctions

Under supervision of the National Nutrition Manager, the Deputy Nutrition Program Manager assist the National Nutrition Program Manager in the management of Iinternational Medical Corps’ Nutrition Program according to mission strategy and donor funded program objectives. Specifically, the Deputy Nutrition Program Manager will provide overall management oversight and technical backstopping including providing nutrition training, compiling program reports and monitoring daily activities. S/He will act as the National Nutrition Program manager in his/her absence.


Qualifications Requises

Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or Project Management and 5+ years relevant work experience (minimum 3 years in emergency response setting); experience in training national staff required
Fluent in local language, fluency in English/French required.- Ability to train national staff on nutrition response in emergency settings
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills
- Strong supervisory and organization skills
- Flexible and able to deal with stressful situations
- Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources in difficult settings
- Strong communication and leadership skills, able to effectively present information clearly and respond appropriate to questions from senior managers and headquarters staff, counterparts, senior government leaders and donors
- Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition issues in emergencies.



Conditions particulières

Specific Responsibilities and Tasks:
1. General knowledge of International Medical Corps code of conduct and ethics
o Maintain and promote positive relationships with MoH, colleagues, beneficiaries, and communities
o Respect all rules and procedures
o Comply with health and safety rules
o Ensure all staff supervised complies with the health and safety rules related to the job
o Respect medical ethics

2. Program Development
o Assist in identifying existing project implementation gaps and address any issues with partners, donors and stakeholders
o Analyze data from nutrition programs and provide inputs to be used for quality assessment and improvements in overall program quality
o Provide daily supervision of OTPs and SC, as well as community based activities
o Backstop the field Nutrition Program Manager as needed

3. Program Administration
o Assist in staff recruitment and training, conduct performance monitoring in collaboration with HR management, ensure that standards and protocols are adhered to

4. Program Management
o Ensure International Medical Corps’ nutrition standards and protocols are understood and followed field project managers
o Provide technical guidance to project staff and Community Health Worker/Volunteers, through daily field visits to health facility and community activities, data collect and report review
o Review field implementation plans and reports for activities including community mobilization, screening and health education sessions to ensure compliance with International Medical Corps’, government and donor regulations and policies
o Demonstrated understanding of the underlying causes of malnutrition and ensuring that the IMC project is addressing these underlying causes


5. Capacity Building and Coordination
o Identify staff needs and provide training to address any issues for the nutrition teams
o Represent International Medical Corps in national and provincial level coordination meetings in the absence of the National Nutrition Program Manager, including the national or sub-national Nutrition cluster

6. Reporting
o Review field implementation plans and assessment/surveys to ensure quality and timely reporting
o Submit timely monthly report with reliable data and proper analysis and action points to deal with any program problems


Additional Tasks:
o Other duties as assigned by the National Nutrition Program Manager




Conditions de travail

Normally 8h/day, if needed weekend and holy days icluded.
