Zanmi Lasante (ZL) is a Haitian organization based in Santo, Port au Prince and is a recognized non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a preferential option for the poor in health care. Through its service delivery, training, advocacy and research, ZL works closely with its sister organization, Partners in Health (PIH) globally to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need and to serve as an antidote to despair. PIH operates sites for clinical care, research and training in 10 countries (Haiti, Peru, Russia, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mexico and Navajo Nation) and has a growing network of affiliated organizations and initiatives in several other countries, including Nepal, Burundi, Mali, Guatemala, and Togo.
Position Overview:
Zanmi Lasante is recruiting a Technical Coordinator for the “Aba Kolera” project. The overall purpose of the two and a half year, Aba Kolera project is the targeted elimination of cholera transmission in rural Haiti. This will be achieved by providing household water and hygiene education and the oral cholera vaccine to community members in the target communities of Cerca-la-Source and Mirebalais. In addition to these services, the Aba Kolera project will document and publish outcomes to inform global policy and similar programs focused on eliminating cholera.
The Technical Coordinator will serve as the project’s site-based technical representative and will be responsible for mobilizing the community based team to complete census, education, and vaccination activities in the community. The Technical Coordinator will work under the technical guidance of the Aba Kolera project’s Technical Director and the administrative guidance of the Aba Kolera project’s Program Manager.
Fonctions
• Coordinate community based activities such as the census, treatment of household water and hygiene education, and vaccination campaign in collaboration with the Program Manager, according to the guidance of the Technical Director.
• Supervise and mobilize the community based team of Nurse Coordinators, Enumerators, Vaccinators, and Criers to assure activities are fully completed on schedule.
• Submit details monthly 1-page narrative reports on activities completed, successes, and issues to the Aba Kolera project Technical Director and Program Manager within 10 days of the end of the month.
• Planning of monthly activities plans and budget with the Aba Kolera Program Manager to assure funds are availability, due no later than 5 days before each month.
Qualifications Requises
• Advanced degree (MPH, MD or other advanced degree related to health).
• A minimum of seven years of demonstrated experience working in infectious disease prevention, care or treatment programs;
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience concerning cholera prevention, care and treatment programs.
• Thorough understanding of relevant Government of Haiti policies and regulations, how government operates, and a keen understanding of local development activities.
• Experience supporting local organizations implementing health and cholera programs.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Fluency in French and Haitian Creole, professional proficiency in English
