The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is a United States based not-for-profit organization which is registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO). UMCOR has a long operational history in Haiti. Across all its programming (livelihoods; water, sanitation and hygiene; and shelter and reconstruction), UMCOR Haiti supports community engagement. This involves extensive community-based consultation and participation as well as close coordination among project partners including the Government of Haiti (GoH) and donor partners. The overarching objective of UMCOR Haiti’s efforts is to support the Government of Haiti (GoH) in implementing sustainable post-earthquake reconstruction and development. The UMCOR Haiti Strategy which covers the period 2013-2017 takes into account Haiti’s development challenges pre-earthquake yet focuses on reconstruction and projects adequate for reconstruction given the changes in context, content, and focus of the Government of Haiti’s (GoH) “Build Back Better” agenda.
Purpose: The Logistic Assistant works under the Acting Logistic Manager to oversee logistic and stock room organization, basic UMCOR office and international staff house maintenance, and to keep all logistic records in the support of UMCOR programming.
Fonctions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Logistic Assistant supports the team with the highest integrity in daily logistics support and maintaining adequate inventory of all disposable office and cleaning supplies. In this function, this position will work with the procurement team on replenishing stock. The Logistic Assistant will also support the UMCOR office and UMCOR international staff house cleaning teams with technical backstop and maintenance as needed for repairs and basic stocking matters. Basic record keeping will be required. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, teamwork, initiative, and responsiveness.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
UMCOR Office
• Perform routine physical count of office and cleaning supply to keep the inventory updated
• Fill out inventory stock cards
• Operate the generator and maintain its logbook
• Document and communicate to management service date and running logs of the generator
• Support in in-kind asset inventory as maintained by Logistic Manager-track goods received and delivered by item, cost, and area of distribution, beneficiaries, and donors.
• Collect basic office need requests (e.g. office supplies etc.), create purchase request and see process through to completion
• Supervise all external contractors working in the office
UMCOR International Staff House
• Perform routine physical count of UMCOR International Staff House—cleaning and kitchen supplies to keep the inventory updated
• Collect basic house need requests (e.g. bathroom supplies etc.), create purchase request and see process through to completion
• Supervise all external contractors working at the international staff house (house maintenance, internet, plumber, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned by the Acting Logistic Manager
Qualifications Requises
• Fluency in English and French.
• Minimum or associate degree in Management Science.
• At least 5 years of experience in Logistics Assistant field.
• Experience working with an international NGO.
• Knowledge of Basic Applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) on Computer.
• Ability to solve problems and team spirit.
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision.
