Habitat for Humanity Haiti’s (HFHH) vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Anchored by the conviction that housing provides a path out of poverty, for more than 30 years Habitat Haiti has helped over 55,000 Haitian families through home construction, rehabilitation and repairs and by increasing access to improved shelter through products and services and tailored community revitalization programs. As an organization, an important part of remaining transparent and accountable to our donors, partners and other stakeholders is recounting the story of our work here in Haiti through photos, case studies as well as number of other communication products. To this aim, our communication department is looking for dedicated communications officer to support our team.
Project Aim:
Secure a dedicated capacity from September 2016 to the end of January 2017, to support Habitat Haiti team communication efforts across all of its programs.
Fonctions
Position Description:
The communications officer will report to HFHH Resource Development Manager and/ or Communication Specialist. Much of the Communication Officer’s scope of work will focus on documenting HFHH program activities coordinated from our offices in Pétion Ville, Simon Pele and Canaan with photos, videos and written anecdotes from the field. The communications officer will also support program managers with periodic report drafting, supplying them with the needed communications materials including photos, case studies and/or video support.
Related Tasks:
The Communication Officer will act as the communication focal point for programs for all activities related to communications. He/she will play an active role in collaboration with the Program Managers and Teams in the following activities:
1. Documentation
• Coordinate with supervisor, program director and community engagement team to Schedule regular visits to the field to document program related activities with photos, video and written content.
• Conduct interviews in the field with key stakeholders identified by program staff / community engagement team.
• Stay connected with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team to stay updated on program related numbers and indicators. Be ready to share these as art of content development efforts and or as requested by supervisor.
2. Content Development:
• Support the Communications and Resource Development teams with the planning, implementation and production of communications materials.
• Write and edit stories, captions and videos and submit to Resource Development Manager for review and recommendations
• Ensure that all assignments are produced on schedule while meeting professional standards for informing, educating and engaging donors as per each program’s parameters.
• Identify and pitch story ideas to support resource Communications and Resource Development team
3. Reporting
• Provide print, photos and/or video content for donor updates in collaboration with supervisor.
• Provide photo and editorial support for program reporting
• Provide HFHF branding support to ensure strict adherence to
Qualifications Requises
Requirements:
The right HFHH communications officer candidate:
• has 3+ years’ experience in communications or similar field;
• has Excellent command of English, French and Kreyol;
• has experience in development communications and writing material on a technical topic for non-technical audiences
• has experience in interviewing and researching
• has experience in matching narrative text with relevant visual photo and video media
• has experience in content development and photography; experience producing short videos will be an asset;
• has experience in community engagement
• consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude;
• demonstrates professional behavior and personal ethics, transparency and openness in the workplace.
