USAID’s MCSP program in Haiti is hiring a Zika Technical Advisor who will oversee MCSP’s work on Zika in Haiti, and who will be based in Port au Prince. The primary responsibility of the Zika Technical Advisor will be to oversee all Zika related activities in Haiti, coordinate closely with MCSP HQ Zika activities, and ensure quality deliverables related to MCSP’s Zika program.
Fonctions
• Provide technical support and assistance to the MSPP, the Haitian National Alliance, and PAHO in the development of ZIKV national guidelines, and support participation in regional meetings.
• Support the MSPP to update currently out-of-date ZIKV-related information on their website.
• Support capacity building in all SSQH PHC sites for ZIKV prevention and control.
• Adapt, translate, and roll out Jhpiego’s ZIKV 2-hour orientation package for health workers.
• Translate and field test ZIKV TOT module for health workers adapted and developed by MCSP HQ on prevention and management of ZIKV in pregnancy, including respectful care for women and families. Ensure its roll out at National Training Centers.
• Using the MCSP LARC Learning Resource Package, ensure the conduct of training in regions most affected by ZIKV outbreak (translate to French and/or Creole as needed).
• Ensure the provision of LARC (including PP-LARC) training.
● Support comprehensive routine antenatal care (ANC) and postnatal care (PNC), with screening and monitoring for ZIKV cases, along with focus on specialized care for women with suspected/ confirmed ZIKV infection.
● Capitalizing on work conducted by MCSP HQ, work closely with each DDS and partners to promote key behaviors for women during pregnancy.
o Develop and include in materials the use of repellents, covering clothing, and household-level vector control;
o Adapt/develop/disseminate materials to emphasize involving male partners in ANC;
o Adapt/develop/disseminate materials to discuss sexual transmission of ZIKV (including condom usage during pregnancy);
o Adapt/develop/disseminate materials on care-seeking behavior in pregnancy;
o Support use of ZIKV-specific tools and job aids in Creole and evaluate for acceptability.
Qualifications Requises
• Medical Doctor or MPH
• Ability to represent USAID’s Maternal and Child Survival Program in Haiti at high level
• Extensive (7+) years of experience working in Haiti in RMNCH with strong community focus, knowledge of and experience working in collaboration with MSPP, international and local donor agencies and program implementing organizations (NGOs).
• Knowledge of major RMNCH (including nutrition and WASH) as well as implementation of RMNCH programs in Haiti.
• Excellent program management skills
• Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
• Experience working at national level on health policy, technical guidelines and program implementation
• Experience working in integrated programming through the continuum of care from household through community to hospital
• Excellent writing, data collection, analysis and reporting skills
• Fluency in French and English; Haitian Creole proficiency also preferred
• Excellent facilitation, oral and written communications skills
• Ability and willingness to travel around Haiti up to 30% of time
