Worldreader is on a mission to bring digital books to every child and her family, so that they can improve their lives. Through programs based on e-readers, tablets and mobile phones we reach over 18 million people in 85 countries with a library of over 37,000 digital books in 43 languages.

About Ann ALE

Haiti’s Let's Learn to Read and Write (Ann ALE) project, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by FHI 360 in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Professional Training (MENFP), aims to improve literacy outcomes for urban and rural children in grades 1–4 throughout the country.

As a subcontractor on the project, Worldreader will provide e-readers loaded with lesson plans and supplementary books to teachers in all 550 Ann ALE schools over two school years (2016-2018), implement key training activities, and support the digitization of teaching and learning materials.


Fonctions

Under the guidance and supervision of Worldreader headquarters in San Francisco, USA, and also reporting and accountable to the Ann ALE Chief of Party, the E-reader Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Worldraeder’s main programmatic activities in Haiti. The Program Manager will engage in the following:

Work planning: Serve as lead author for annual, quarterly, and monthly project work plans, coordinating with relevant in-country actors and Worldreader headquarters.

Training: Work closely with in-country Worldreader training consultant to develop, organize, and deliver training workshops for Ann ALE and MENFP staff, and teachers and school administrators; develop training materials and translate into Creole and/or French (as needed).

Monitoring and school support: Develop and execute on project monitoring plan; develop school-based monitoring tools; ensure ongoing collection and analysis of data; serve as lead author on monitoring reports; provide support and mentorship to project teachers, administrators, and reading coaches/inspectors.

Logistics and procurement: Coordinate with Worldreader’s in-country logistics coordinator on shipment and clearance of devices as well as device deployment; manage deployment of additional and replacement devices; push updated lesson plans and other digitized materials onto devices; lead the development, dissemination and monitoring of e-reader management policy for schools.

Representation: Serve as main in-country Worldreader representative to Ann ALE staff, MENFP and other local stakeholders; maintain and build positive relationships with key partners and potential partners.
Reporting: Develop and submit monthly and weekly activity plans and progress reports; serve as lead author on regular reporting to FHI 360.

Sustainability: Develop a project sustainability plan; manage project closeout and exit in compliance with USAID, FHI 360 and Worldreader policies and procedures.

Other: Support digital design workshops and other trainings/meetings; support Worldreader staff and consultants travelling to Haiti from Worldreader HQ; manage approximately two other local consultants; ensure a positive working environment and good team dynamics; assist with any other tasks and assignments as required.


Qualifications Requises

Desired Skills & Experience:
• Degree in education, international development, or a related field (graduate level preferred)
• A minimum of 7 years experience in development project management and implementation, preferably in Haiti with large-scale government programs
• Excellent spoken and written skills in English and Creole, with proficiency in spoken and written French
• Prior knowledge of Haitian education system
• High level of comfort with technology (mobile phones, tablets & e-readers)
• Exposure to and knowledge of basic monitoring and evaluation principles
• Computer proficiency, knowledge of Microsoft Office platforms, including Excel and Word
