The AVANSE project Northern Corridor Nord seeks to appoint a “GIS and Database manager” specializing in spatial data and analysis, starting immediately.
Fonctions
• The successful applicant will participate in, develop, and direct a wide range of data management, collection, and creation tasks related to M&E indicators and Geospatial data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistical and/or computer programming, and enough facility with mathematics and statistics to implement algorithms and statistical techniques in computer code (e.g., R, Python).
• Additionally, GIS and Database Manager will trouble-shoot device performance, data collection, manipulation, and computation problems related to the processing and joining of geospatial data with AVANSE database.
• Applicants should have experience with most statistical and Database software(e.g., SPSS, Access, MySQL) and be comfortable working with or learning related GIS libraries and programs like the Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL), S Classes and Methods for Spatial Data (SP), QGIS, and GRASS.
Qualifications Requises
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in statistics, computer science, GIS, or another discipline related to geospatial analysis;
• Five years of combined experience in GIS and Database work;
• Five years of experience managing a team;
• Fluency in French and English preferred;
• Excellent communication skills in English;
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and scientific creativity are essential;
• Additional experience with field collection, particularly in hillside parcels, is an advantage.
