Introduction
The Accountant will be responsible for overall day-to-day management of office finances and will work closely with the Junior and Senior Accountant, as well as with the Finance and Accounting Manager. H/She will be responsible for ensuring all project office finances services are achieved according to project deadlines, will monitor the work of the Finance Administrative Assistant, and will respond to inquiries from the Finance Officer. H/she will ensure that all accounting transactions are compliant with AVANSE, DAI and USAID regulations.
Fonctions
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, contractual terms, USAID Regulations, Haitian Law, and other applicable rules and regulations.
• Provide support on all banking activities including withdrawals, deposits and preparation of all bank payments and checks.
• Document all project transactions and enter them into the project accounting software (FAS)
• Manage accounting documents while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and ensure the integrity of all receipts, invoices, and vouchers.
• Help in the preparation of the regular staff bi-monthly payroll, and of the payment of social contributions and tax payments.
• Ensure the project advances (suppliers and staff) are reconciled in a proper and timely manner.
• Ensure that all the accounting transactions are with the proper supporting documentations and work with the Finance & Accounting Administrative Assistant to keep an adequate filing system of the vouchers and back up documentation.
• Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of all office rules and procedures as set forth in the field office policy manual.
• Perform any other financial tasks assigned by the Senior Accountant, the Finance & Accounting Manager or by the Operations Manager which are consistent with his/her qualifications.
Qualifications Requises
• University degree required in accounting
• Five years previous experience in accounting or financial management.
• Experience working with international NGOs or donors, such as USAID is preferable.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the Generally Accounting Accepted Principles (GAAP)
• Experience using the Internet, Microsoft, and/or accounting software.
• Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation in handling all assigned tasks with minimal supervision
• French and Creole required , English proficiency strongly preferred
