SUMMARY
The Seascape Coordinator for the North Coast of Hispaniola will promote the implementation of the Caribbean Marine Biodiversity Program (CMBP), covering day-to-day coordination and support for all major conservation-related activities related to the North Coast of Hispaniola Seascape. The Seascape Coordinator will focus on the Three Bays National Park area in Haiti, and secondarily on the Monte Cristi National Park area in the Dominican Republic (DR). A major emphasis of this work will be community-based approaches and generating tangible socio-economic benefits.
Major responsibilities will cover: planning and implementation of marine managed areas (MMAs), sustainable fisheries, monitoring at site and national levels, program budget, technical reports, liaison with our main NGO partner (FOPROBIM), and annual work plan preparation. He/she will travel to Haiti as necessary to facilitate a range of CMBP activities, such as trainings and workshops involving government officials and partners, local leaders and Location: This position is based in the Dominican Republic


Qualifications Requises

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BA/BS, law or business degree and 3 years of experience in natural resource management, community development or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience negotiating complex agreements.
• Supervisory experience.
• Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally.
• Proven relationship-building skills, to be able to work closely with a diverse group of stakeholders (e.g. NGOs, fishers, local and national government officials, educators, rural communities and community groups).
• Experience in training and curriculum design.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Experience with community capacity building, including education, planning and outreach programs.
• In-depth knowledge, working experience, and ability to effectively interact and communicate with local government officials, NGOs and community based organizations in Haiti.
• Experience and ability to coordinate multiple projects at the same time, including projects with diverse stakeholders such as government departments and ministries, community groups, and local and international NGOs
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to complete tasks independently within assigned deadlines.
• Ability to collect and coordinate project information from a number of sources, to populate databases, create reports and produce manual files.
• Fluency in English, Creole, and French
