Introduction
The Education Advisor will be responsible for pedagogical support to teachers, directors, and pedagogical advisors to ensure that the execution of the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) for out-of-school children and youth ages 12-18 into schools. Pedagogical support includes: (1) overseeing implementation of ALP by teachers (coaching, observation visits & evaluation, monthly check-in/reinforcement sessions, and summer-support activities) and (2) accompanying schools through a process of school assessments and implementation of mini-grants for improvements. The Education Advisor will manage ateam of 8 ALP supervisors, each managing a caseload of 10 teachers implementing the program across 80 schools in total.
Fonctions
Primary Functions
1. Develop and execute a strategy for delivering essential training and support to teachers, directors, and pedagogical support staff in 8 target areas of the North, North East, and border areas for the implementation of the ALP in collaboration with MENFP and the EFACAPs. Support shall include, but is not limited to: intensive summer training, monthly observation and evaluation visits to teachers, monthly training/reinforcement sessions with all teachers.
2. Oversee the provision of certified training for teachers who have low skill levels on a regular basis in accordance with global best practices for training standards (including adult learning techniques and proper monitoring and evaluation of learning).
3. Monitor and measure changes in knowledge and behavior of those who have received training, draft reports and advise management of trends, and make recommendations for improvement.
4. Develop and execute methodology to implement school safety assessments and to select and implement mini-grants for school improvements. Monitor and report on the execution of these assessments and grants.
Qualifications Requises
• A minimum of a Master’s degree in a field relevant to curriculum development, teacher education, or international education programming
• At least twelve years of experience in designing and/or delivering basic education programs in developing countries;
• Knowledge of accelerated learning programs for out-of-school children and youth in the Haitian context, as well as interdisciplinary learning approach for curriculum and material development;
• Experience supervising education program development and implementation including curriculum and materials development, teacher training, and out-of-school youth programs.
• Fluency in French and Haitian Creole is required; English preferred.
• Haitian resident is highly preferred.
