USAID-funded U.S.-Haiti AVANSE program works to catalyze inclusive, sustainable economic growth in a potentially highly productive agricultural area.
The program is based in Haiti’s Northern Corridor / Cap-Haïtien and will work to increase agricultural incomes by achieving the following results:
IR 1. Agricultural Productivity Increased;
IR 2. Watershed Stability above Selected Plains Improved;
IR 3. Agricultural Markets Strengthened;
The AVANSE project is recruiting senior and junior engineers with experience in irrigation and drainage works.
Fonctions
he Senior Engineer, as part of his/her mandate will specifically:
• Work under the direct supervision of the Infrastructure Specialist
• Develop terms of reference for the recruitment of study firms or consultants for the preparation of the irrigation systems' technical files;
• Ensure quality control and supervision of the work activities, the firms and/or the consultants contracted;
• Provide support in the road traffic control, and the analysis of results;
• Conduct cost-benefit analysis of the projects;
• Prepare the projects' estimated budget;
• Ensure the enforcement of civil engineering standards when performing construction of the irrigation systems;
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards in the execution of works related to the infrastructure component;
• Participate in the preparation of tender documents, studies review, oversight of the execution plans submitted by the entrepreneurs and the monitoring throughout the work course;
• Write field visit reports;
• Participate in the preparation of periodic reports (quarterly, semi-annual and annual) highlighting the progress of program activities;
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Infrastructure Specialist.
Qualifications Requises
The successful candidates must have the following qualifications:
• Hold a university degree in civil engineering or related science;
• Have extensive experience in the assessment, the design and the construction of irrigation systems;
• Possess excellent knowledge of civil engineering works;
• Have a strong sense of responsibility and demonstrate rigor in monitoring the activities;
• Have at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in the field of civil engineering and irrigation systems;
• Have relevant experience working in multidisciplinary teams;
• Have excellent organizational and analytical skills and the ability to summarize complex information;
• Good computer skills, especially in the use of computer-assisted design software;
• Have the ability to work under pressure and independently;
• Have good writing skills in English and French;
• Have the ability to produce reports and quality work in a timely fashion.
Reporting:
The Senior and Junior Engineers will report to the Infrastructure Specialist.
