The PRODEV Foundation is seeking a highly-skilled leader to serve as Principal of School in Cap-Haitien.
Fonctions
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Establish and maintain a learning environment in the schools
• Participates and maintains an effective learning environment among the entire network community (faculty, staff, support personnel, students, etc).
• Programs educational activity, within established parameters, designed to meet the schools’ needs; influences continuous improvement of existing parameters.
• Facilitates, with the guidance of school personnel and Central Office Administrators continuous improvement of students’ education and development processes.
• Establishes standards and expectations for proper student conduct; supports the appropriate methods to encourage discipline and commitment to established guidelines; maintains high expectations and motivation for all to engage in continuous learning and development.
2. Design and manage processes and methods conducive to learning
• Assures the effectiveness of the schools’ teachers.
• Manages the planning, organization, and implementation of all initiatives.
• Initiates, facilitates, designs and implements programs to meet school needs.
• Utilizes all available resources within the Network systems and the community to develop and improve the effectiveness of existing educational programs.
• Maintains a clear and open communication process with the Pedagogical Director of Prodev. Keeps the schools members informed of policy changes, new programs, opportunities, and the like. Makes use of any effective mechanism available (meetings, flyers, bulletin boards, technology, etc.)
• Keeps a constant communication system with the Foundation
3. Community Relations Management: Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall schools’ objectives and academic programs; to assist the implementation of individual schools’ policies as well as PRODEV’s general administrative directives; discuss and resolve individual teachers’problems and foster opportunities for teachers’growth and development.
Within the School System:
• Acts as a liaison between the community and the PRODEV.
• Participates in required meetings as well as in those that will result in better opportunities for all the schools.
• Works with the various members of central administration to solve school problems such as transportation, special service, and the like.
Between the school and the community:
• Acts as a liaison between the school and the local community encouraging the community to participate in the educational process as part of the overall schools’ life.
• Develops a program of public relations in order to further the communities understanding and support of educational programs.
Will be responsible to develop, implement and maintain continuous improvement with concentration in the following areas:
• Improved grades and test scores.
• Increased attendance.
• Reduce tardiness.
• Increased ability to measure improvement indicators with greater certainty.
• Increased students’ involvement in meaningful extracurricular activity.
• Other outcomes related to student and school performance.
4. Managing school personnel:
• Provides a formal orientation process for newly assigned staff members (and overall personnel) and facilitates their induction and development as appropriate.
• Cooperates with PRODEV’s members regarding teacher training and preparation.
• Provides and supports appropriate developmental opportunities to school personnel in order to keep an updated and competent faculty and staff.
• Sets clear expectations and provides ongoing feedback, advice, counseling and support to all staff members regarding their performance.
• Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals, and other publications and discussing problems of mutual interests with others in the field.
5. Management of the schools:
• Coordinates and supervises support services such as maintenance, security, food services, recreational programs, library activities and financial and accounting functions, etc.
• Prepares and submits the schools’ budgetary requests and monitors expenditures of funds.
• Informs of school activities and problems.
• Any other duty assigned.
Qualifications Requises
Degree in Education
5 years experience as a school principal
(international expreience is a plus)
Strong management skills
Fluent English
Fluent French
Creole
Excellent skills in Word, Excel and Power Point
