Introduction

Lakou Lapè (LKLP) is a Community Association involved in peace building and conflict transformation in Haiti. It seeks to reduce violence and build improbable relationships in and between the different sectors of Haitian society. LKLP is seeking to employ an Assistant for its Executive DirectorHe or she will have two primary responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a fundraising plan for the organization
• Provide administrative support to the Executive Director.


Fonctions

• As Assistant to the ED, he or she will work closely with the Executive Director to assure that all organizational goals and deadlines are properly met and reported on time and with the strictest quality.
• As a priority the AED will, in coordination with ED and Program Manager, establish a funding plan which highlights organizational priorities and sets out clear actions to maximize the fundraising potential of LKLP. The plan will also set out realistic and achievable targets.
• The AED will advise the ED on trends in the philanthropic, business and NGO world which affect funding possibilities.
• The AED will continuously conduct ongoing research on the changing goals and interests of corporate, foundation and institutional philanthropy allowing the association to respond to shifting priorities and develop dormant or opportunistic interests into program proposals.
• Provides the Executive Director and Board with a clearer sense of what kinds of programs might reasonably be expected to receive funding (and at what levels) from corporate, foundation, institutional sources thus facilitating financial planning within the institution.
• The AED will manage the relationship of the institution with corporations, foundations and individuals from whom funds are sought for various programs and projects of the organization.
Identifies potential sponsors and settles on the appropriate targets for funding.
• Writes and introduces project proposals in coordination with Executive Director and Program Manager.
• Either alone or with other organization personnel, approaches individuals, corporate and foundation officials and negotiates the terms of their support to the institution
• Will maintain the presence of LKLP on social media and ensure that the presence is relevant to improved fundraising opportunities and profile.
• The AED will design and deliver events directed at public and private audiences and which generate direct income to LKLP and enhance its profile as an organization requiring funds to complete its work program.
• Responds verbally and in writing to questions posed by potential donors regarding Institution proposals, or refers questions as necessary to appropriate Management staff for reply.
• Prepares for the Executive Director correspondence directed to individuals, donors, corporate and foundation officers.
• As appropriate, coordinates work and provides administrative assistance to the Executive Director and supervises other personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications Requises

Education Requirements and Work Experience
• Bachelor Degree in business, social sciences or other related field.
• 5 years of experience in working in development, fundraising, and management of NGOs or CBOs, preferably in Haiti.
The Applicant must be able to illustrate (with references) a proven track record in effectiveness of fundraising, grants awarded, and management ability
• The Applicant should be fluent in and have excellent writing skills in English and French. Fluency in writing and reading of Haitian Creole an advantage.

• Ability to work on their own volition and as part of a team.
• Highly developed communication skills both oral and written.
• Extensive broad based knowledge and proven experience of the principles, practices and techniques of preparing oral and written submissions and presentations.
• Comprehensive analytical skills and experience to assess the funding viability of proposals and potential reactions and prospects to proposals, and to develop recommendations for stimulating interest in the organization’s programs.
• Creative skills and experience in producing innovative written materials to stimulate interest on the part of potential funding sources that may be indifferent to organizational objectives
• Thorough knowledge of potential funding sources for institution projects.
• Skill in relating needs of the institution to individuals, corporations and institutions.
• Ability to keep abreast of current philanthropic and public relations interests of individuals, foundations or corporations, acquired through regular contact with those individuals and organizations.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative work relationships with potential funding sources and with senior staff


Conditions de travail

The AED must be flexible and able to work long and antisocial hours when required and travel in and outside of the country if need be.

Autres remarques

• The Applicant should be well versed in Microsoft Office Applications, especially in manipulating Excel spreadsheets, Word, Power Point. Familiarity with Social Media, websites, Facebook, Twitter is a must.
