The Lead Architect/Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the design, quality and safety for all construction activities implemented under the project. S/he will ensure that infrastructure and service provision activities respond to identified community needs and are appropriately coordinated with activities focused on creating a more dynamic and equitable livelihoods sector, and stimulating new economic opportunities in Canaan, outside Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti.

The selected candidate will apply knowledge and technical capacity to solve architectural/engineering problems, the coordination of project activities, and the preparation of preliminary plans and documents for key challenges, such as environmental protection, risk reduction ,access to basic services, construction practices, social inclusion, poverty reduction, land rights, and governance. Improving risk mitigation measures such as green defenses, drainage, slope stabilization with retaining walls, etc to ensure safe, solid, resilient infrastructure within the designated site. The candidate will also providing on-site support, technical supervision of any construction works, and assure timely completing of projects


Qualifications Requises

The Pan American Development Foundation is looking for a:
Lead Architect/Engineer
Required Qualifications:
• BA/BS or equivalent university degree in Architecture, Engineering or Civil Engineering required; Masters or other advanced degree preferred
• 5-10 years of experience in building design, structural design of infrastructure, and supervision of construction works, ensuring engineering and construction quality of buildings and infrastructure in contexts with poor construction practices and regulation
• Experience working with low-income communities and government counterparts preferred
• Fluency in Haitian Creole or French required; Fluency in English preferred

• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills,
• Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines under stressful conditions;
• High level of maturity, good judgment, flexibility and integrity of character;
• Cultural sensitivity, and an ability to engage in with local leaders, municipal representatives, micro and small business owners, and community based organizations, and other stakeholders
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.


Conditions de travail

Location : Full-time local position based out of the PADF-Haiti office in Port-au-Prince
Duration of the assignment: Anticipated July 2015
Deadline : February 27th, 2015
