Introduction

Share Hope is a young USA-based not-for-profit Foundation with social goals, which owns a commercial/technical agent (Share Hope Inc.). Share Hope Inc. looks for markets in the USA and actively places production in Haiti.

Share Hope, therefore, combines three strategic approaches:
a) Produce and market products with more value added (ie. more complicated designs, different fabrics, etc.), so that the income of the factory can be increased, allowing for wage increases to be “absorbed” without bringing the factory into financial difficulties.
b) Promote the highest possible standards of corporate social responsibility in the factories in which we work, including decent working conditions, wages, safety in the workplace, environmental considerations such as reduction of pollution, etc.).
c) Mobilize funds from the profits of Share Hope Inc., from other “actors” in the market chain, and eventually from the consumer, to provide enhanced social services to the workers in Haiti’s apparel industry.

Fonctions

The Share Hope Program Coordinator, is part of the management of the Share Hope Team in Haiti and is based in Port au Prince. She/he reports to the Chief Executive Officer of Share Hope and oversees the development and implementation of a portfolio of projects falling under Strategic Approach (c) mentioned above. Currently, this portfolio includes one health project (130,000 US$/year since January 2014), and two projects under development (education; sanitation). It is envisaged that at maturity, each of these projects include a Project Manager and a small team, as needed.

The Share Hope Program Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of Share Hope's social development project portfolio in Haiti. She/he supervises the project managers and oversees the projects' technical implementation and administration, to ensure consistent and effective project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, as well as budget tracking. In close consultation with the Share Hope CEO and the Share Hope Board Chair, she/he develops and implements appropriate project management procedures. She/He remains appraised of the situation in Haiti and makes recommendations to the CEO in regard to project opportunities, risks and mitigation measures. She/he may be called upon to assist in establishing a Haiti based entity, which would eventually become the institutional basis for the above-mentioned projects.
