Introduction
Chemonics seeks deputy chief of party candidates and technical specialists for an anticipated USAID-funded early grade reading program. This program aims to improve reading and writing skills in Haitian Creole and French for 100 million children in primary grades in the development corridors of Cap Haitien, Saint Marc, and Port-au-Prince. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world
Fonctions
Supplementary Teaching and Learning Materials Specialist
o Role:
Review, adapt, and create supplementary materials for grades 1-4 in Haitian Creole and French.
Work with MENFP, PDCL, and local organizations to define Haitian Creole reading standards to evaluate reading levels and readability of texts.
Create classroom libraries with reading materials for grades 1-4 in Haitian Creole and French.
Train teachers in the effective use of classroom libraries to support reading.
Coordinate with other specialists to set up libraries at the school level and ensure appropriate use to support reading both inside and outside of the classroom.
Qualifications Requises
o Qualifications:
Graduate degree in education, materials development, literacy, or related subject.
At least 7 years of experience reviewing, adapting, and creating supplementary materials for early grade reading.
Knowledge of the MENFP, PDCL, and other local Haitian education institutions.
Fluency in French and Haitian Creole required, English preferred.
