Chemonics seeks deputy chief of party candidates and technical specialists for an anticipated USAID-funded early grade reading program. This program aims to improve reading and writing skills in Haitian Creole and French for 100 million children in primary grades in the development corridors of Cap Haitien, Saint Marc, and Port-au-Prince. Fonctions
Sr. Education and Training Specialist
o Role:
Lead curriculum and materials development, supplementary materials development, lesson planning, and teacher professional development components of the project.
Develop, assess, and evaluate instructional materials, new reading/writing curricula, textbooks, teacher resource books, and training materials currently being used in project schools.
Coordinate with the schools and local education administrators to effectively pilot new reading/writing tools into the classroom and collect feedback.
Provide analysis, advice, and/or implementation assistance on training strategies, delivery of training, organizational training capacity, and management of training activities and evaluation of same in a development context.
Apply experience in instructional design theory, research, and practice to the process of developing and implementing instructional strategies.
Serve in an advisory role, consulting with upper levels of management and governments in order to assist them in the development and oversight of appropriate policy and training strategies to strengthen education systems.
Qualifications Requises
o Qualifications
A minimum of a Master’s degree in a field relevant to reading/literacy, curriculum development, and teacher education from a recognized education institution is required.
At least ten years of experience in developing early grade reading and writing curricula and materials.
At least five years of experience in conducting teacher training/coaching and training of trainers.
Expertise in teaching early grade reading and in developing French and Haitian Creole curriculum and materials relevant to the Haitian context is required.
Applicant must be able to demonstrate ability to collaborate with government, donors, and civil society partners in the implementation of reading and writing programs and activities.
Fluency in English and French and Haitian Creole is required.
