Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit organization whose mission is to address urgent housing needs in our communities, nation and world. Habitat for Humanity regional office in Haiti has been engaged in the field for more than 30 years providing housing services to the people in need. Four years after the earthquake Habitat for Humanity Haiti has provided transitional and upgradable shelters to more than 4,000 families, has repaired and rehabilitated more than 525 houses, has conducted more than 12,000 damage assessments and has built 300 permanent core houses. More than 6,600 Haitians have been trained through Habitat Haiti’s main offices and Habitat Resource Centers and more than 700 Haitians have found job opportunities. Habitat for Humanity Haiti has served overall 50,000 families in Haiti.
Fonctions
Habitat for Humanity Haiti is looking for Value Chain Specialists for a new project based in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. The Value Chain Specialist who works under the supervision of the Value Chain Officer is responsible for conducting surveys, facilitating focus groups relating to the housing value chain analysis and for supporting directly the implementation of market based solution this in collaboration with the private sector and the community. We are looking for an energetic and open-minded individual with capacity to work in a complex project.
Responsibilities:
1. Housing Value Chain Assessment and Analysis:
- Support the Value Chain Officer in the complete process and help ensure that the program objectives are met
- Work with the Community Engagement Coordinator and the community leaders to identify and engage private sector partners in the project area
- Facilitate focus group discussions and report key findings to the Housing Value Chain Officer
- Collect data in the field related to the housing value chain project
- Help the Value Chain Officer analyze data and share with him relevant findings from the field
2. Development and Implementation of Market Based Solutions:
- Support the Value Chain Officer in the design of Quick Impact Projects based upon housing value chain(s) analysis
- Manage directly the implementation of Quick Impact Projects ensuring quality and speed of execution
- Help ensure that initiatives meant at changing the market dynamics are effectively implemented and monitored
- Help ensure that market interventions are supported by the community and the private sector
3. Other:
- Working with the Community Engagement Coordinator and the community leaders help ensure continuous community support for the projects
- Act as a liaison between the Value Chain Officer and private sector entities
Qualifications Requises
- Professional degree in relevant field
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience of which at least one in a livelihoods agent role
- Previous experience conducting surveys and facilitating focus groups (required)
- Previous experience working in value chain assessment projects a plus
- Previous experience working in community development driven projects (desirable)
- Working experience in the private sector (desirable)
- Previous experience in project design and implementation (required)
Conditions particulières
- Fluency in both French and Haitian Creole (required)
- Fluency in English preferred but not required
- Proficiency with internet, Excel, Microsoft Word and other office applications
