Job vacancy for Income Generation Officer

Good Neighbors International is a humanitarian non-governmental organization, whose mission is to improve the lives of others—especially those of children—through education, community development, health services, sanitation, and disaster relief projects.

Good Neighbors was granted General Consultative Status with the UN ECOSOC in 1996 and
also we were acknowledged its contribution and granted the ‘MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) Award by the United Nations in 2007.

Good Neighbors opened its field office for Haiti in January 2010, in response to the earthquake that devastated Haiti, in January of that year. We rapidly launched emergency relief aid after earthquake and served as a channel between donors and earthquake affected community people, furthermore involved in rebuild communities from the effects of the quake. Good Neighbors accomplished successful fruition through various projects; distribution relief items, providing medical service and tents for earthquake victims, construction shelters for displaced people and building public school.

In order to improve the economic situation of vulnerable people in our project area, business tools and training are very essential to community, so that GNI Haiti office (thereinafter GNH)) is currently seeking dedicated and energetic Income Generation Officer for the Head Office in Port-au-Prince.


 Post title : Income Generation Officer (IG Officer)
 Reporting to : Income Generation Coordinator, Operation Department manager, Director
 Duty Station : Head Office in Port-au-Prince and CDP (community development project) area in remote rural area of Haiti

Fonctions

 Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the monitoring of the income generation activities implementation including finance budget and administration, together with Income Generation Coordinator.
• Work with the income generation team in each of the Community Development Projects to create and deliver an income generation strategy and plan, which ensures that income generation and business development opportunities in the Locality are realized.
• To support, guide and enable others within the communities to undertake successful proposal writing and submissions.
• Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders, including consortium forums and commissioning bodies to deliver effective income generation partnerships.
• Conduction training courses as needed for CDP to be capable to produce monthly report.
• Assist Income Generation Coordinator to ensure that project interventions reach and prepare reports on income generation activity as required.
• Monitor and evaluate the income generation project progress of the beneficiaries and provide additional career training to beneficiaries as required.
• Maintain the Income Generation Projects of each CDP Beneficiary Database.
• Support income generation beneficiaries in producing a budget for the establishment of
their business.
• Coordinate the purchase and delivery of the equipment and initial raw materials required
for the establishment of each new income generation community.
• Provide regular feedback, report to the Team Leader and participate in team meetings

 Knowledge and Experience
• Essential
- Experience of working within an income generation environment
- Proven track record of implementing income generation strategies and meeting targets.
- Experience of gathering and creating effective supporting evidence and materials to enhance the income generation activity.
• Desirable
- Working in matrix environments
- Management and maintenance of databases.
- Experience of identifying and developing suitable income generation opportunities to support CDP income generation sustainable development.
- Experience of supporting and enabling others to prepare successful income generation.
- A knowledge and understanding of funding for voluntary/community based organizations and the issues related to maintaining external funding streams in the third sector.
- Preparation of project related documents including producing cost analysis and funding

 Skills and abilities
• Essential
- Ability to be creative and innovative in identifying funding streams and maintaining them
- Ability to work with limited supervision, priorities work and deal with competing or conflicting demands / needs and interests in an organized and methodical manner.
- Proven ability to manage and be accountable for income generation and budget
- Strong interpersonal and networking ability with demonstrable ability to influence and
inspire others.
• Desirable
- High level of literacy, numeracy and budgeting skills
- Strong IT skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to problem solve effectively
- Ability to understand financial procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively - verbally and in written form to a wide range of
- audiences and through a variety of mediums
- Ability to build and sustain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent skills in gathering, analysing and using information and evidence from different
sources to support income generation activity


Qualifications Requises



• Education: Bachelor Degree (University Students may apply) equivalent of experience in similar position.

• Knowledge: Considerable level of knowledge and skill, understanding of social development projects, and understanding of working / living in poverty a plus. Also understanding and knowledge about agriculture are preferable.

• Experiences: 2 years of experience in business at least 2 years income generation in implementation and monitoring and evaluation of development experience or business field .

• Computer and office technology : Strong MS Office (Word, Excel and Power-point) and Internet skills

• Language : Fluent in Creole, French and English

• Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Team player, willingness to work hands – on and within the field, sense of initiative, flexibility.

• Location : Port-au-Prince and requires flexibility in working hours and travelling to remote area

• Duration : Full - time work

Conditions de travail

 Salary Offered: HTG 13,800 – 15,000 (Monthly) depending on experience and job performance.
