Introduction
The US Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Appui à la Valorisation du Potentiel Agricole du Nord, à la Sécurité Économique et Environnementale program (AVANSE) is a five-year, $87.8 million project designed to catalyze inclusive, sustainable economic growth in a potentially highly productive agricultural area. The program is based in Haiti’s Northern Corridor / Cap-Haïtien and works to increase agricultural incomes by achieving the following results:
1) Agricultural Productivity Increased
2) Watershed Stability above Selected Plains Improved
3) Agricultural Markets Strengthened
4) Capacity of Local Organizations Strengthened
The AVANSE Project team is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual with experience in accounting to join its team.
Background & Objective
The Senior Accounting will be responsible for overall day-to-day management of office finances and will work closely with the Senior Operations Manager. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring all project office finances services are achieved according to project deadlines. The Senior Accountant will ensure all accounting transactions are compliant with AVANSE, DAI and USAID regulations.
Fonctions
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the following detailed tasks, but not limited to:
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, contractual terms, USAID Regulations, Haitian Law, and other applicable rules and regulations.
• Provide support on all banking activities including withdrawals, deposits and preparation of all bank payments and checks.
• Document all project transactions and enter them into the project accounting software (FAS)
• Manage accounting documents while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and ensure the integrity of all receipts, invoices, and vouchers.
• Prepare the regular staff and Short termers payroll, the payment of social contributions and tax payments.
• Ensure the project advances (suppliers and staff) are reconciled in a proper and timely manner.
• Ensure that all the accounting transactions are with the proper supporting documentations and keep and adequate filing system of the vouchers and back up documentation.
• Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of all office rules and procedures as set forth in the field office policy manual.
• Maintain a detailed tracker of all payment requests received in Accounting from the initial reception until the payment is completed;
• Perform any other financial tasks assigned by the Senior Accountant or Operations Manager which are consistent with his/her qualifications.
Qualifications Requises
• University degree required
• Five years previous experience in accounting or financial management.
• Experience working with international NGOs or donors, such as USAID is preferable.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the Generally Accounting Accepted Principles (GAAP)
• Experience using the Internet, Microsoft, and/or accounting software.
• Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation in handling all assigned tasks with minimal supervision
• French and Creole required , English proficiency strongly preferred
