Introduction

The US Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Appui à la Valorisation du Potentiel Agricole du Nord, à la Sécurité Economique et Environnementale program (AVANSE) is a five-year, $87.8 million project designed to catalyze inclusive, sustainable economic growth in a potentially highly productive agricultural area. The program is based in Haiti’s Northern Corridor / Cap Haitien and works to increase agricultural incomes.
The AVANSE Project team is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual with experience in gender to join its team.

The Gender Specialist will be responsible the following tasks, but not limited to:


Fonctions

Specific Tasks:
• Work closely with long-term staff, principally the COP, the DCOP, the Responsible of IR (the Agricultural Production, Watershed Management, Agribusiness and Markets Specialists and Senior Capacity Building specialists, and the M&E to successfully implement the gender focus strategy;
• Lead the coordination for the initial gathering and analysis of gender data; conduct programmed surveys and assessments among targeted women and farmer groups;
• Support the Specialists of IR and the Infrastructure team to develop a gender focus strategy work plan for each IR and infrastructure component in order to facilitate the gender integration in the activities implementation;
• Review the bidding documents to be published by the AVANSE project in order to ensure that Gender issues are well integrated.
• Coordinate the work of the Gender Taksforce and support to organization of gender focus events with AVANSE project’s staff and partners;
• Develop verifiable indicators to monitor the impact of the program on participants; and
• Provide written periodic progress reports to the COP on the gender program; assist the Senior Capacity Building Specialist to organize and lead periodic seminars on current issues (as appropriate).


Qualifications Requises

• At least, 8 years of relevant experience in gender activities.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Haitian context.
• In relation Gender, proven record of achieving development impacts in a similar context.
• Demonstrated ability to work and coordinate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Fluency in Haitian Creole and French required; proficiency in English preferred.
• University degree in a relevant field.
