Introduction

Background & Objective:
The US Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Appui à la Valorisation du Potentiel Agricole du Nord, à la Sécurité Economique et Environnementale program (AVANSE) is a five-year, $87.8 million project designed to catalyze inclusive, sustainable economic growth in a potentially highly productive agricultural area. The program is based in Haiti’s Northern Corridor / Cap Haitien and works to increase agricultural incomes.
The AVANSE Project team is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual with full life cycle communications experience to join its communications team. On another level, this will involve ensuring that the issues and concerns of AVANSE’s beneficiaries are well communicated to the project, and their implications for AVANSE are well understood within the project.
The Communications Assistant II will help communicate AVANSE through community meetings, radio discussions, limited video productions and public events. Communications Assistant II will have significant experience with issues about agriculture, rural development, local governance, advocacy, the Rural Code, and gender. The incumbent will have experience with media and a “presence” in order to be able to draw and direct attention.

• Organize events to help promote AVANSE’s work:
• Liaise with media and coordinate media visits to project work sites and national media presence during events.
• Act as a community mobilizer, during community informational sessions or meetings.
