Plan International Haiti is seeking candidates for a proposed Education Specialist for an anticipated US Department of Labor (USDOL) funded program that will reduce child labor and improve rights and working conditions in the North-East Department of Haiti. The Education Specialist will serve as the project’s full-time technical lead for all education activities. This position will work collaboratively with the other Technical Advisors in the project and with the Project Director. This is a full-time position based in Haiti. The position is contingent upon award of the project by the donor.
Fonctions
• Serve as the technical lead on all education activities.
• Lead the development of project work plans, ensuring that targets are met and project outcomes are achieved
• Lead the design, oversight, and monitoring of education activities.
• Recruit and manage education personnel as needed for project implementation.
• Serve as the lead education specialist on behalf of the project liaising with the donor and Haitian government.
• Contribute detailed and accurate written inputs to fulfill project technical and financial reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with partners, sub-grantees, government agencies, international and local NGOs, schools, and community-based organizations on project activities as needed.
• Serve as the primary representative of project education activities within and outside the project.
• Participate in relevant coordination meeting to present project activities, ensure coordination with other projects, and assure highest quality of project implementation
Qualifications Requises
• Master’s Degree or equivalent in Education or related field; PhD is an asset.
• Significant experience in a leadership position responsible for developing education interventions and the technical aspects related to the project, including community awareness raising, teacher training, educational materials/curriculum development, educational management, and educational monitoring and information systems, as applicable.
• Proven understanding of the educational needs of girls and boys who are removed from child labor when they enter/return to school or are provided with alternative education services.
• Experience working with vulnerable girls and boys and their households, preferably in Haiti.
• Experience working successfully with Ministries of Education and other government agencies, networks of educators, employers' organizations, and trade unions or comparable entities.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement strategies that employ evidence-based approaches to meet project targets, especially under rigorous timelines.
• Experience working and collaborating with diverse sets of stakeholders, such as local partners, government officials, donor representatives, and international staff.
• Ability to respond on short notice and plan and execute several activities at once.
• Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team or independently, and meet deadlines consistently.
• Proven leadership, inter-personal and cross-cultural skills, and ability to build and motivate diverse teams
• Prior work experience in in Haiti.
• Fluency in French and English is required..
