Job Title: Pain Management and Rehabilitation Physician

Fonctions
Overall Responsibilities:
The Pain Management and Rehabilitation Physician works to provide comprehensive pain management and rehabilitation.
Specific Responsibilities:
Administrative Responsibilities
• Identifies and implements strategies to improve quality of services in the hospital, outpatient and community settings.
• Develops partnerships with external constituencies, the community, academic programs and other groups.
• Fosters the ongoing recognition of the need for specialty care in pain management and rehabilitation in a comprehensive health care system.
Service Responsibilities Comprehensive Pain Management
• Provides direct care in pain management consultations on both the inpatient and outpatient services for HUM
• Develop pain management treatment plans
• Works in partnership with Clinical Nurse, Pain Management to provide high quality pain management services in acute, chronic and palliative pain management.
• Fosters the implementation of an interdisciplinary model of care throughout the hospital by collaborating with various services in pain management.
• Assists in management of difficult cases in collaboration with the other services.
• Provides expertise in pain management to other ZL sites
Service Responsibilities Rehabilitation Medicine
• Provides direct care through management of the inpatient rehabilitation program including inpatient rounds on the rehab ward, consultations from other services, community based
• Develops rehabilitation treatment plans and protocols to care for patients with an array of diagnoses including post-acute stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, orthopedic trauma to patients using a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach
• Fosters the implementation of an interdisciplinary model of care throughout the hospital by collaborating with various services in rehabilitation medicine.
• Collaborates with physical therapists to determine rehabilitation goals, discharge and disposition of patients on the rehabilitation service.
Education Responsibilities
• Assess relevant training needs of Rehabilitation Team, Nurses and Physicians in basic tenets of rehabilitation and pain management
• Cross site education of physicians and other clinicians on acute, chronic and palliative pain management
• Tailor education interventions to meet the needs of Nurses, Rehabilitation team members, and Physicians in basic tenets in rehabilitation
• Provides framework for curriculum and instruction in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Management to Resident Physicians in various disciplines
• Monitors and ensures the effectiveness of education and training interventions for clinical staff in rehabilitation and pain management.
Advocacy Responsibilities
• Builds and maintains strategic relationships with policy makers, non-governmental organizations, industry executives, leading experts and constituents within the pain management, disability rights, rehabilitation community, and to support policy development.
• Advocates for implementation of policies to enhance the lives of people living with pain and disability at the organization, hospital, governmental, and societal levels.
• Assists in the development and implementation of advocacy initiatives within the ZL system and community at large in pain management and rehabilitation.
Qualifications Requises
Qualifications:
• Completion of Medical School at accredited university
• Completion of Social Service Year
• Fluency in Creole and French required
• Fluency in English Preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience
• Interest in rehabilitation and pain management
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft power point, excel, word)
