Sean Penn founded J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO) in the immediate aftermath of the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti; its mission is to save lives and build sustainable programs with the Haitian people quickly and effectively. As a rapidly expanding relief organization J/P HRO seeks a hands-on Director of Development to serve in its Los Angeles, CA office. The ideal candidate will be a strong fundraiser, communicator and project manager with extensive experience using Salesforce who will expand current resource mobilization efforts while cultivating new sources of support. Furthermore, as J/P HRO connects communities in the US to its field-based direct implementation in one of the hardest-hit communities of Port-au-Prince, candidates must be flexible, professional and effective in environments as varied as galas in Hollywood, boardrooms in New York and displacement camps in Haiti.
Fonctions
• Develop and execute the organization’s annual resource mobilization plan in support of annual operating budget;
• Manage planning and execution of special events both within the US and abroad, including the organization’s annual fundraising gala in Los Angeles in January;
• Support program development goals and initiatives, develop new funding opportunities and collaborate on proposal development as well as reporting obligations with granting partners;
• Develop, nurture and maintain ongoing relationships with current sponsors and donors;
• Collaborate with the Haiti team, specifically the Program and Organizational Development department on grants, reporting and donor relations;
• Generate new ideas for resource mobilization including the cultivation of new partnerships with companies, celebrities, high-net-worth individuals and other potential supporters;
• Coordinate with the Director of Communications in crafting materials and developing messaging;
• Oversee the organization’s Salesforce database and ensure accurate data entry and donation processing in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer and Office Accountant;
• Supervise database administrator, volunteer coordinator and development assistant;
• Manage third-party contractors and vendors for special events and other resource mobilization efforts;
• Additional duties as directed by the Senior Vice Presidents.
Qualifications Requises
Qualifications (any exceptions will be at the discretion of the Senior Vice President Team):
• Minimum ten (10) years relevant work experience including five (5) leading resource mobilization efforts;
• Advanced degree in business, marketing or non-profit management;
• Experience developing proposals for USAID, EU, UN, World Bank and other institutional donors;
• Experience developing proposals and cultivating relationships with family foundations;
• Experience developing partnerships with corporate sponsors;
• International experience with relief and community development (preferred);
• Able to work effectively with a multicultural team under difficult conditions;
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Ability and willingness to travel Haiti;
• English Language Skills (exceptional written and spoken communication skills required);
• French Language Skills (preferred);
• Experience managing and developing systems for information management in Salesforce;
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite and Google Docs;
• Proactive, creative, focused, committed, dynamic and attentive to detail;
• Proper documentation and authorization to work in the United States.
