1000 Jobs Haiti Contracting S.A. is a member of 1000 Jobs Haiti Inc. which sole purpose is to create jobs in the Haitian communities through sustainable businesses. Since 2011, in the community of Domond in Boucan Carre, a group of residents is producing Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) blocks. This initiative represents a strong alternative to the central plateau in general and for Mirebalais and Hinche in particular as most of the important projects relies on the Dominican Republic to supply good quality blocks. This business is at its growing stage now after 2 years of incubation. In this context, 1000 Jobs Haiti Contracting S.A. is looking for a manager to oversee its onsite operations in order to ensure the continuity of the progress achieved.
Fonctions
The manager, once hired, will be responsible for:
1- Management of the block producing plant according to the safety standard. This is considered top priority for the Company;
2- Applying the ASTM standard to ensure the best quality block in the market, hence improving construction in Haiti.
Principal Tasks / Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Supervision of the Country Director, the Plant Manager will:
• Supervise the daily production of blocks in the factory;
• Ensure that the production follow the recipe as indicated by the ASTM standards;
• Make throughout quality control of the blocks produced;
• Assist in the development of marketing plan for the Central Plateau with possible extension in surrounding areas;
• Ensure that the equipment, tools, and materials are operating properly and plan in accordance;
• Ensure the operationalization of the Compression Testing Machine;
• Realize random testing of the blocks to identify any discrepancy in terms of quality;
• ensure the plant and equipment is implemented and maintained in accordance with Engineering standards, local and statutory legislation, ISO systems and Health & Safety legislation;
• Ensure that safety and quality are a key element of the blocks producing Plant;
• Assist in the development of new products and initiative;
• Be cable of calculating cost and propose solutions to maximize productivity without affecting quality;
• Be able to produce reports (production, supply of aggregate, etc.);
• Participate in the discussion to improve the operations in terms of reducing risks, ensuring sustainability, and human resources management;
• Assist in other tasks upon occurrence of the need
Qualifications Requises
Skills and Qualifications
• Hold a relevant Diploma in engineering or related fields and/or relevant experience;
• Experience preferably within the block-making industry;
• Experience in a managerial role preferably on a hands-on role rather than desk job;
• Experience in participating in the R&D process of developing new products;
• Knowledge on the new sustainable products within the construction industry;
• Flexible in nature, willing to adjust to the needs of the company and willing to learn about new industries;
• Pro-active personality;
• Inquisitive disposition to learn from 1000 Jobs’ partners;
• Ability to analyze and solve problems;
• Possess excellent communication skills and team working ability at all levels;
• Capacity to use a Computer with MS Office;
• Effective interpersonal skills and organizational awareness;
• Have at least a level 3 in communicating in English.
