Introduction

On the heels of the tragic earthquake of 2010, J/P HRO mobilized a rapid and effective response to save lives and to manage the Pétion-Ville Camp, which swelled to nearly 60,000 displaced earthquake survivors. J/P HRO quickly expanded its services in step with the needs on the ground, working to revitalize local Haitian communities through focused programs including: camp and relocation management, medical clinics, education, community development and livelihoods and engineering, rubble removal and reconstruction. The Organization is looking for: One (1) Grant Assistant, based at Delmas.

Summary:

The Program Development/Grants Assistant calls for a highly motivated young professional to support the organization. As part of a dynamic team and under the supervision of the Grants Manager, s/he will be responsible to support the research grant programs, participate in the writing and submission process of competitive proposals and support the Grants Manager in the writing of timely and high quality reports.


Fonctions

Under the supervision of the Program & Organizational Development Program Manager, the responsibilities of the Grant Assistant are as followed:

Grants and Funding Research
• Research grant opportunities on a regular basis as requested by the Grants Manager;
• Support the Grants Manager in the preparation of meetings with potential donor organizations to get grant-related information as needed;
• Support the Grants Manager in the provision of timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements and procedures;

Proposal Writing
• Assist in the formulation of grants proposals and the coordination of the appropriate contributions from the different program departments;
• Support the collection of relevant information from J/P program teams for proposal preparation;
• Support in editing draft proposals for accuracy, completeness and clarity to ensure high-quality of final submissions in accordance with grant/donor requirements and deadlines;

Monitoring and Evaluation
• Support the M&E Senior Officer in the inclusion and update of targets and indicators within proposals and reports;

Administrative support
• Provide support in archiving and administrative follow up of donor-related letters and communications;
• Provide support in the edition and development of policies, guidelines and protocols of the POD department;
• Provide support in administrative tasks of the department with relation to procurement, HR management or Logistics.


Qualifications Requises






• Bachelor’s degree in Administration, International Relations, Development or other relevant academic background (essential);




• Minimum of 2 years of experience in writing in a professional setting in English or French (required);




• Experience in drafting proposals (desired);




• Previous work with non-governmental or international organizations (desirable);




• First-hand knowledge of the Haitian context (desirable)




• Superior written communication skills, evident through written proposals or other submissions in both French or English (required);


• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively network and manage a variety of relationships in a multicultural environment;


• Flexible work attitude, ability to meet unexpected demands and capacity to work both in a team environment and independently;


• Strong computer skills with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;


• Integrity and commitment to humanitarian values.
