Introduction

The Capacity Building Officer is responsible for organizing and carrying out capacity building workshops and individual training sessions aimed at strengthening the capacities of local organizations of people with disabilities. He/she will also develop and carry out awareness-raising activities on the rights of persons with disabilities and be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Center.


Fonctions



Capacity Building

• Identify training needs of local organizations of people with disabilities (carrying out organizational assessments and then work with organizations to address points identified)

• Organize and implement capacity building workshops on different topics in different parts of Haiti and at the Center

• Organize and facilitate regular bi-weekly discussion rounds

• Develop training tools and manuals (on topics such as organizational development, project management, basic accounting, human resources, monitoring and evaluation)

• Provide individual advice and mentoring to organizations at the Center or their office, e.g. to improve internal structures and support efforts in project proposal writing



Sensitization

• Develop awareness-raising materials on disability for different professional groups (e.g. police, health sector personnel, religious personnel)

• Organize and carry out awareness-raising sessions



Center Management

• Supervise together with project manager, the use of the Center

• Develop and update internal rules and procedures ensuring smooth running of the Center when necessary

• Monitor use of resources and equipment

• Assist Center users in the use of equipment when necessary



Monitoring & Evaluation

• Compile monthly, quarterly and yearly narrative and financial reports as required

• Assist in elaborating work plans, budget plans etc. for the project

• Monitor projects implemented by CBM’s partners when necessary


Qualifications Requises

Professional Profile and Requirement
• Excellent knowledge in the fields of project management, administration, organisational development, etc.
• Prior experience in facilitating trainings
• Experience in working with local organisations
• Proven good organisational skills
• Being familiar with disability and the rights of persons with disability is an advantage
• Knowledge of gender and gender sector is an advantage
• French and Creole are mandatory; good working knowledge in English

• Excellent inter-personal skills
• Team player and good communicator with a proven ability to motivate people
• Flexible and patient, able to adapt approach to needs of the audience
• Open to also take on administrative or organizational tasks as needed


Conditions de travail

The Center for Inclusion is dedicated to the work with local organizations and tries to manage its resources economically. The future job holder should be aware that there are no support personnel in the Center itself and should not consider him/herself above carrying out simple administrative and menial tasks (e.g. helping organizations make photo copies, ensure Center stock is in order etc.) whenever necessary.
