Introduction
Background & Objective
USAID-funded U.S.-Haiti Feed the Future Partnership: Northern Corridor project (FTFN) program is a five-year, project that will catalyze inclusive, sustainable economic growth in a potentially highly productive agricultural area.
The program is based in Haiti’s Northern Corridor / Cap-Haïtien; its objectives are to increase agricultural incomes by achieving the following results:
1) Agricultural Productivity Increased
2) Watershed Stability above Selected Plains Improved
3) Agricultural Markets Strengthened
4) Capacity of Local Organizations Strengthened
Fonctions
Specific Tasks:
• Work with farmer associations, agribusinesses, service providers, and other agricultural value chain actors to assist them to understand the process of accessing financial products from financial institutions, and that above clients see the relevance/importance of financing to growing their business;
• Work with financial institutions and donor projects (notably HIFIVE) to master the supply of financial products in the project zone that are of relevance to the above types of actors in the agricultural sector.
• Explore using mobile money technology for conducting financial transactions (payments for purchases, cash transfers, payroll, credit disbursements, credit repayments, etc);
• Work with farmers and/or other actors in agriculture value chains to use new information technologies for enhance access to market information;
• Develop financial plans for specifically targeted individual clients (farmer assoc’s & VC actors) tailored to their needs. This will involve working with the IR3 business planning specialist on developing cash-flow models of these enterprises that show the impact of credit on turnover and profitability.
• Help clients produce financial documentation/forms specifically for loan applications.
• Prepare and conduct workshops that target strengthening SMEs and MSMEs skills, including how best to establish links between target clients above, financing institutions, educational institutions and private sector buyers;
Qualifications Requises
Qualifications:
• At least 7 years of experience focused on finance; experience working with micro and/or small entrepreneurs
• Fluency in English and French required; proficiency in Haitian Creole preferred.
• Ability to FollowUp on all tasks initiated and Multitasking.
• Experience working with micro or small entrepreneurs in rural area.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• University degree in Finance or accounting or business is required.
Conditions particulières
Reporting: The Access to Finance Specialist will report to the Agribusiness and Markets Specialist.
