Organizational Profile: Partners in Health (“PIH”), co-founded by Paul Farmer and Ophelia Dahl and headquartered in Boston, MA, is an internationally recognized non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a preferential option for the poor in health care. Through its service delivery, training, advocacy and research, PIH works globally to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need and to serve as an antidote to despair. PIH has major programs in Haiti, Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, Russia, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Burundi, Kazakhstan, the Dominican Republic, and Boston, working tirelessly to lessen the joint burden of disease and poverty.
Zanmi Lasante, PIH sister organisation, founded by Pere Lafontant, a small community clinic that first started treating patients in the village of Cange in 1985, has grown into the Zanmi Lasante (ZL) Sociomedical Complex, featuring a 104-bed, full-service hospital with an infectious disease center (the Thomas J. White Center), a women’s health clinic (Projet Sante Fanm), a laboratory, a pharmaceutical warehouse, a Red Cross blood bank and a dozen schools. ZL has also expanded its operations to a dozen other sites across Haiti’s Central Plateau and beyond. Today, ZL ranks as one of the largest nongovernmental health care providers in Haiti – serving a catchment area of 1.2 million people. ZL employs over 5,400 people, almost all of them Haitians, including doctors, nurses and community health workers.

The Opportunity:
Maintaining a well-functioning supply chain is critical to assuring quality in our clinical service and therefore core to the fulfillment of our mission. As we have grown dramatically in Haiti over the past several years, we have outgrown our process and systems and need a fresh start. Partners In Health and Zanmi Lasante are seeking an experienced, highly skilled leader to design, test and fully implement a reliable system for managing the storage and distribution of both pharmaceuticals and other materials to our locations throughout the Central Plateau and the Artibonite Valley. The Director, Supply Chain, will oversee the building and management of a new warehouse at our main location in Port-Au-Prince. He or she will also have responsibility for training and managing a team of #, and for assuring that the clinical staff, as the primary client of this function, is fully supported.

Key Responsibilities:
• Build and manage the functioning of a new warehouse
• Establish and implement processes for managing the supply chain
• Implement the technology to support the supply chain
• Train and manage the staff responsible for storing and distributing materials
• Build the capability of ZL's supply chain and procurement team, including developing a Haitian national successor.
