Fonctions

The following requirements will apply to this position:
• Several years of experience in Quantity Surveying for simple earthquake proof buildings or structures including:
o Single and two story reinforced concrete structures with brick or masonry walls
o Timber and corrugated iron clad buildings.
o Concrete, steel or timber bridges.
o Renovation/Repair and Retrofitting of Yellow Houses
o Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Facilities
o Churches and or Chapels.
o Schools
o Hospital and Clinics
o Landscaping
o Retaining walls and canals
o And the likes
• Adequate knowledge on buildings laws or regulations as well as safety matters, contract and labor laws, insurance, tax and the likes which can affect/implicate the evaluation and estimate of a project.
• Knowledge in measurement and evaluation of new and on-going projects to determine the volume of works needed for the formulation of Bill of Quantities.
• Can read and interpret construction drawings and familiarity with material specifications
• Can develop a close working liaison with the project Engineers and Architects as well as with local and national government authorities to check details or standards needs in the measurement of projects.
• Ability to assess and measure site progress and can recommend progress payments.
• Can establish a system of recording the measurement of new and refurbished works.
• Can do field visits and site inspections for the purpose of evaluating the volume of the works and may necessitate staying overnight in remote locations.
• Knowledge in preparing contract documents for contract tender and award.
• Can Organize and manage contract tender meetings, site visits, bid openings, contract awards, and pre-construction conferences
• Can do administration of contractor claims and disputes, including compliance with contract requirements.
• Ability to manage and maintain an office filing system and library, both electronic and physical; ensure necessary confidentiality of all contract documents.
• Can maintain and monitor project activities / tracking.




It is essential that the successful applicant is prepared to work extended hours, often in difficult circumstances.
It is preferred that the successful applicant has written and spoken English.


Qualifications Requises

Formal qualifications:

 The successful applicant will have a minimum qualification of a degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognized University and several years of experience in the construction industry.

 Honest, mature and independent and fast learner.
 Having experience in filing system.
 Ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines as well as in a team.
 Proficiency in software applications including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook and PowerPoint.
 Good spoken English skills.
 General understanding of finance / accounting would be an advantage.
 Willing to learn and follow instruction from supervisor.
