Introduction
BRAC began in 1972 as a small relief effort in response to Bangladesh’s war of liberation, which left the country torn by poverty and strife. For 40 years, BRAC has developed, tested and implemented a myriad of development programs that have propelled it to become one of the largest and most comprehensive development organizations in the world. BRAC is dedicated to the alleviation of poverty by empowering the poor to realize their potential and bring about positive change in their own lives.
BRAC has touched the lives of an estimated 110 million people in 10 countries, including Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Tanzania, Uganda, Southern Sudan, and Haiti.
BRAC Limb and Brace Center (BLBC)
Building upon its decade of experience in Bangladesh, BRAC Haiti established a Limb and Brace Center that opened in September 2010 in Port-au-Prince. The BLBC is making and fitting low cost, quality artificial limbs and braces, in addition to providing counseling and rehabilitation services. Since it began its operations more than two years ago, the BLBC has provided permanent prosthetic devices and orthotic treatment to 2,300 patients.
BRAC Haiti is currently recruiting a Finance Officer for the BLBC.
Fonctions
• Prepare and maintain daily accounts as per requirements and organizational procedures;
• Update, preserve and maintain project cash book, general ledger and other ledgers;
• To prepare and conserve all working files and registers. Perform all BLBC office accounting, including but not limited to: bill vouchers, cash requisitions, procurement quotations, lease agreements, increments, foreign currency issues including gain/loss calculation, fixed asset and depreciation review, fund transfers, audit inquiries, etc.;
• Maintain and preserve of all important supporting documents and files;
• Ensure smooth running of bank transactions, maintain and preserve bank ledger and prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements;
• Safekeeping of bank cheques, counter foil, and other bank related papers and documents;
• Prepare and submit monthly accounts and financial report to HQ and donors at specified times;
• Prepare and preserve all bill vouchers in the office and ensure proper maintenance and execution of all types of finance related circulars that have been issued;
• Act in accordance with different circulars and human resource policies;
• Manage the inventory and store properly;
• Ensure that excess cash is not maintained on hand;
• Update and maintain stock book, assets register and depreciation register properly and ensure the identification number on fixed assets;
• Calculate staff salaries, benefits and taxes and pay through bank accounts;
• Follow the procurement policies of BRAC while procuring materials for the project;
• Any other related responsibilities to finance and accounts of the project
• Other tasks as assigned and important
Qualifications Requises
• A Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management, or other related field is required
• Motivated and proactive
• Good communication interpersonal and problem solving skills and mediation, good organizational capacity including attention to detail are required.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines
• Good knowledge of English, French and Creole (oral and written);
• High accuracy and efficiency;
• Compliance with procedures required;
• Ability to review and explain any sort of financial details
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel);
• Excellent organizational skills and flexibility;
• Able to work independently and in a team
• Be methodical and rigorous
• Good organization of work in accordance with the priorities and tight deadlines
• Good adaptability and resistance to stress
• At least two (2) years of significant experience in the field
