Introduction

Gender Specialist, Haiti
Contingent upon award, ACDI/VOCA will implement a P.L. 480 Title II USAID-funded Development Food Aid Program (DFAP) in Haiti. The overall goal of the project is to reduce chronic food insecurity and vulnerability of individuals, households and communities to food security shocks at the national level. ACDI/VOCA will work with government of Haiti in building a national safety net system and facilitating linkages between vulnerable individuals and key civil society organizations and private sector firms.
Fonctions
Responsibilities:
• Lead a team to conduct gender analysis and using results, lead the development of a gender policy, strategy and action plan with specific and practical activities on how to integrate gender and enhance women and girls’ empowerment throughout the program implementation, monitoring, evaluation, organizational structure and operations.
• Oversee implementation of the gender action plan and ensure that it is coordinated with the overall program work plan.
• Collaborate with the government of Haiti to develop gender responsive social safety net systems, budgets and action plans.
• Lead and oversee the key gender-related project activities
• Collaborate with local women’s groups, gender-focused organizations or institutions and other local or international groups that are implementing similar gender-related activities in similar areas.
• Participate in monthly work planning
• Identify issues, risks and improvements related to program implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate program adjustments.
Qualifications Requises
Qualifications:
• 7-10 years of experience in mainstreaming gender in institutional and governance development activities, working with women and NGOs in Haiti.
• Experience with USAID funded project.
• Experience training in the governance, maternal and child health, and agricultural/rural sector.
• Experience in facilitating trainings for staff and beneficiary populations is required.
• Ability to write coherent and analytical reports is required.
• Experience in facilitating trainings for staff and beneficiary populations is required.
• Good communication skills to listen and help others understand complex ideas.
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, e-mail).
• Fluent in French and in Creole.
• English language skills desired.
