COMMUNICATION OFFICER, LOKAL+ PROJECT , HAITI
Tetra Tech ARD (tetratechintdev.com), a US-based international development firm, has been awarded a five-year USAID-funded contract for LOKAL+ that will build Haitian government capacity to provide public services sustainably. The project will work with six to 10 target municipalities located within the US government’s priority development corridors, as well as national government entities, to improve public services (in targeted communes).
This position is full-time in accordance with terms and conditions of the project.
Fonctions
Responsibilities :
*Research, analyze and write press releases, articles and other informational pieces in coordination with the Branding and Marking specialist at USAID, in accordance with the communication protocol established between the project and the donor;
*Orient staff on use of the various information-sharing tools, as needed;
*Respond to support office and donor inquiries, producing feature stories and reports, photos, video resources and information about LOKAL+ work and issues;
Plan and undertake field trips to gather stories, photos and video – in line with USAID protocols and content guidelines;
*Assume other related duties as assigned by supervisor and Deputy Chief of Party such as providing updates to facilitate preparation of required program reports;
*With the Director of Integrated Services, the Chief of Party, and home office support as needed, and in consultation with the Branding and Marking specialist at USAID, develop the communications strategy for LOKAL+. This strategy will be differentiated for products aimed at USAID, at the general public, for vulnerable populations including women, youth and marginalized for the internal project team, and for government counterparts;
*Draft presentations, best practices & lessons learned;
*Collect and become familiar with information related to project activities through reports issued by government and non-governmental organizations, and other relevant sources;
*Compile and disseminate information concerning all aspects of program activities in accordance with the project’s protocols; and
*Inform local partners on program activities, when necessary.
Qualifications Requises
Qualifications
*A university degree/diploma or equivalent in journalism, communications or public relations;
*At least two years of professional experience;
*Experience crafting communication strategies related to women, youth, and disenfranchised groups;
*Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite;
*Excellent reporting and photographic skills;
*Understanding of traditional and new media;
*Ability to deal effectively with deadlines and stressful work environment;
*Sensitivity to decentralization and local governance;
*Motivated to work in teams and independently;
*Language abilities in Krio, French, and English;
*Experience on a USAID or other large donor project.
