Introduction

UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a USA based international development agency that provides long-term technical assistance to developing countries. UMCOR’s program areas in Haiti focus on continued earthquake early recovery and development activities in the sectors of Livelihoods, WASH, and Shelter and Reconstruction.

UMCOR - Haiti is currently seeking a national Livelihoods Assistant for its country office. The position is based in Port-au-Prince with travel as needed to other parts of the country.

The Assistant will be required to work 40 hours per week. He or she will be part of UMCOR’s Livelihoods Program in Port-au-Prince under the guidance of the Livelihoods Coordinator. UMCOR’s Livelihoods program strengthens income generating opportunities in the West Department of Haiti through support to Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) and agricultural productivity.

Housing and transportation to and from work is not provided for this position. Transport is provided for business purposes during working hours only.


Fonctions

Responsibilities:
The Assistant will report to the Livelihoods Coordinator. His or her responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 Organizational/administrative: Schedule meetings, trainings, and other events with beneficiary communities.
 Community mobilization: Maintain a positive and constructive relationship with beneficiary communities to facilitate and advance the work of the livelihoods team.
 Record keeping: Ensure comprehensive electronic and hard copy records are kept and filed on all livelihood program matters.
 Data collection and entry: Work with the livelihoods team to gather data needed for monitoring and evaluation purposes and update and maintain databases as needed.
 Support to partners: Work directly with partner service providers to facilitate their work and the overall achievement of program objectives.
 Support to project development and implementation: As determined by the Livelihood Coordinator, assist with needs assessments, project implementation and monitoring and evaluation of livelihood projects.
 Support to coordination: As determined by the Livelihood Coordinator, accompany team at coordination and information sharing meetings.
 Other duties as assigned by the Livelihood Coordinator.


Qualifications Requises

Must have:

 At least one year of previous experience working with an international or local development organization implementing programs in the field, preferably livelihoods programs
AND:
 Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to connect with vulnerable groups
 Experience carrying out community mobilization and working effectively with local populations
 Strong detail orientation and ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently
 Experience working with service providers and partner organizations
 Database management and data entry experience is a plus
 Good written and spoken English, French, and Creole language skills; and
 Strong work ethic, personal integrity, and positive attitude
