Introduction

UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a USA based international development agency that provides long-term technical assistance to developing countries. UMCOR’s program areas in Haiti focus on continued earthquake early recovery and development activities. The PISANS program is a community resettlement project that seeks to integrate host and new beneficiary communities. Interventions include but are not limited to the following sectors: water, sanitation and hygiene, livelihoods and shelter and reconstruction.

UMCOR - Haiti is currently seeking a national Livelihoods Assistant for the PISANS program. The position is based in Cabaret with travel as needed to other parts of the country.

This is a full time position. The assistant will be part of UMCOR’s Livelihoods Program in the Haut Damier, Cabaret field area of Haiti under the guidance of the PISANS Program Coordinator. Housing and transportation to and from work is not provided for this position. Transport is provided for business purposes during working hours only.


Fonctions

Responsibilities:
The Assistant will report to the PISANS Program Coordinator. His or her responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 Directly support the Agricultural Livelihoods Manager and Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) Support Manager in implementing livelihoods activities for approximately 450 households as per the project proposal and donor requirements.
 Organize meetings with beneficiaries for both the agriculture and MSE support components of the livelihoods portion of the program.
 Mobilize the community for participation in the program and maintain an active and constructive relationship with beneficiaries throughout the project period.
 Organize trainings and create a master training schedule for the MSE support portion of the program. Also, organize refresher trainings and coaching sessions with beneficiaries as needed.
 Work directly with vendors, beneficiaries, and an e-voucher system service provider to ensure the secure and transparent redemption of grants by all beneficiaries
 Work directly with other service providers to facilitate their work and the overall achievement of program objectives.
 Maintain databases and enter data collected through needs assessments and other means as necessary.
 Work with the logistics team to organize the procurement and distribution of agricultural input packages and seedlings to beneficiary households.
 Ensure collection of household contributions for agricultural input packages.
 As necessary, produce and maintain accurate and detailed records of project activities and expenditures.
 Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications Requises

Must have:

 Previous experience working with an international or local development organization implementing programs in the field, preferably livelihoods programs
AND:
 Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to connect with vulnerable groups
 Experience carrying out community mobilization and working effectively with local populations
 Strong detail orientation and ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently
 Experience working with service providers and partner organizations
 Database management and data entry experience is a plus
 Good written and spoken English language skills; and
 Strong work ethic, personal integrity, and positive attitude.
