UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a USA based international development agency that provides long-term technical assistance to developing countries. UMCOR’s program areas in Haiti focus on continued earthquake early recovery and development activities. The PISANS program is a community resettlement project that seeks to integrate host and new beneficiary communities. Interventions include but are not limited to the following sectors: water, sanitation and hygiene, livelihoods and shelter and reconstruction.

UMCOR - Haiti is currently seeking a national Driver for the PISANS program. The position is based in Cabaret with travel as needed to other parts of the country.

This is a full time position. Housing and transportation to and from work is not provided for this position. Transport is provided for business purposes during working hours only. Please note that this is a full time position with benefits included. Three months from date of signing will serve as a follow up date for a performance conversation.

Responsibilities:

The driver will report to the Program Operations Officer. His or her responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:



TRANSPORT IN SUPPORT OF PROGRAMS

• Drive the office’s vehicles by respecting the rules of security and the actual traffic law.

• Punctuality, accountability and reliability: Follow drivers schedule reporting to duty on time and returning from routine stops on time.

• Prepare incident reports in case of any accidents

• In-depth knowledge of major city routes of Port-au-Prince and around as well provinces, including Cabaret

• Ensure that updated registration and insurance paper is available in the vehicle at all times

• Perform business deliveries as needed

• Record and maintain vehicle movement log sheet



VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP

• Maintain basic vehicle care: notifying manager of needed oil, gas, tires etc.

• Knowledge of basic mechanical functions (verifying oil, water battery, brake, tire, etc) and inform supervisor of any mechanical problems and/or need for repairs.

• Maintain a daily log sheet of the vehicles (daily mileage, gas consummation etc)

• Ensure the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle



Any other official duties as assigned by the PISANS Program Coordinator or Program Operations Officer.

Must have:

• Certified driver license and proven years of experience as a safe and reliable driver.
• Ability to monitor basic vehicle maintenance, such as oil and gas levels and ability to change a tire and perform other routine vehicle needs.
• Knowledge of basic road safety procedures.
• Must be willing to take initiative, work as a member of a team, adhere to the policies and procedures of UMCOR.
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Previous experience with international organizations is preferred.
• Previous experience working with international staff as a part of a diverse team is preferred.
• Ability to understand and use basic English is preferred.
