Introduction

UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a USA based international development agency that provides long-term technical assistance to developing countries. UMCOR’s program areas in Haiti focus on continued earthquake early recovery and development activities. The PISANS program is a community resettlement project that seeks to integrate host and new beneficiary communities. Interventions include but are not limited to the following sectors: water, sanitation and hygiene, livelihoods and shelter and reconstruction.

UMCOR - Haiti is currently seeking a national Community Engagement Manager for the PISANS program. The position is based in Cabaret with travel as needed to other parts of the country.

This is a full time position. The Manager will be part of UMCOR’s PISANS Program in the Haut Damier, Cabaret field area of Haiti under guidance of the PISANS Program Coordinator. Housing and transportation to and from work is not provided for this position. Transport is provided for business purposes during working hours only.


Fonctions



Responsibilities:

The Manager will report to the PISANS Program Coordinator. Their responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Act as the focal point for information sharing for multi-sectoral projects for the PISANS program.

• Monitor and report program success.

• Organize community members for program evaluations.

• Prepare communication documents such as beneficiary interviews and program descriptions and progress.

• Participate in project monitoring to ensure communication between community members and program staff.

• Mitigate concerns and respond to questions from community members.

• Coordinate with beneficiary leaders to ensure community participation and ownership.

• Organize and facilitate community meetings to inform the community on the goals, requirements, procedures, contributions, and objectives of the project.

• Prepare and submit regular progress reports and work plans.

• Alert the Program Coordinator to any instances that have the potential for a negative impact on the implementation of grants or compliance with their terms.

• Alert the Program Coordinator to potential community concerns and provide feedback on community perceptions of program implementation.

• Take overall responsibility for achieving project objectives and adhering to the proposal and donor requirements.

• Complete other duties as assigned.


Qualifications Requises

 Must have a University degree in a social science field, two years of project management experience, AND a minimum of 4 years community engagement experience
AND:
Must have good knowledge of participatory methods
Must have effective communication skills and experience facilitating meetings
Must be able to walk long distances
Must have excellent networking, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills
Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Must have good knowledge of international development and community coordination
Must have a good understanding of beneficiary rights and contributions for development projects
Must be proficient in Word and Outlook
Must have good written and spoken English language skills
Must be able to follow directions and work schedule
