Introduction

J/P HRO is a non-profit organization dedicated to help lift the nation of Haiti out of the rubble and give the Haitian people a better life, is seeking experienced professionals for several exciting opportunities as part of its response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
The Deputy Finance Manager assists the Finance manager to monitor every aspect of the organization's Finances, in enabling efficient accounting and finance operations. He/She is responsible for providing financial advice and support to Managers and colleagues to enable them to make sound management decisions. The Deputy Finance Manager will work closely with other members of the Program Management on matters that can affect the financial health of the organization.


Fonctions

• Support the Finance Manager with the Management & Coordination of all financial activities of J/P HRO.
• Assist the Finance Manager to ensure the financial transparency and integrity of the Organization within the framework of the established policies and procedures.
• Monitor all accounting transactions and processes and ensure these are in line with J/P HRO policies and procedures to ensure transparency.
• Participate in the daily operations of the JP/HRO Finance Department.
• Monitor and adhere to internal and external deadlines.
• Prepare necessary financial reports for donors and other Departments in cooperation with the Finance Manager.
• Ensure adherence to donors’ financial requirements.
• Supervise the day to day financial recording and reporting.
• Reviews, investigates, and reports on inconsistencies in financial entries.
• Work with both internal and external auditors during financial audits.
• Assist the Finance Manager with the follow up and proper implementation of audit recommendations.
• Assist with monitoring the compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the Organization’s procedures.
• Effectively relay important financial information to Managers.
• Assist in providing technical support to J/P HRO staff regarding financial procedures.
• Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.
• Maintain banking relationships.
• Participate in discussions on finance issues.


Qualifications Requises

• Degree in Accounting
• Must be a an active member of OCPAH
• Knowledge of and experience working with the Haitian Fiscal Code
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in positions of senior financial management/Accounting in Haiti preferably in the NGO sector
• Experience in the NGO sector is preferred
• Experience in preparation, organization for external audits
• Strong qualification in financial management and accounting
• Very good knowledge of computerized accounting packages and Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of QuickBooks would be an added value
• Strong experience in producing budget and financial reports for use by management and different donors
• Experience in designing and reviewing internal control systems or internal audit
• Work well with people, aggressively anticipate impacts of workload/issues to team deadlines and have a very positive work attitude including willing to work some longer hours during peak periods.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
• Fluent written and oral English , French and Creole
