UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a USA based international development agency that provides long-term technical assistance to developing countries. After the January 2010 earthquake, UMCOR intends to help rebuild Haiti focusing its activities the program sectors of water and sanitation, shelter and livelihoods. It is implementing a three year integrated program that targets interventions across its core sectors on sustainable development programs, working in coordination with national and international agencies based on ongoing needs assessment in consultations with the communities.

UMCOR - Haiti is currently seeking a project manager to support a waste management program in the communities of Bristout and Bobin in the Port-au-Prince area. The project manager will oversee cooperative training, environmental education programs with a focus on waste management, and management of cooperative-run recycling centers. They will be based at UMCOR Haiti’s Port au Prince office.

The Project Manager will be required to work 40 hours per week, with flexible of working hours during the week. They will be part of UMCOR’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Program in selected field areas of Haiti under guidance of the WASH Coordinator.

Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will report to the WASH Coordinator. Their responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 Facilitating trainings for business, management, and operations for cooperative groups
 Monitoring and assessing the work of contractors and service providers to ensure they are meeting UMCOR and other relevant standards
 Ensuring that contractors and other service providers comply with their work plans to complete work within the specified time frame
 Measure completed work and make recommendations to WASH Coordinator for payments
 Drafting internal program reports
 Monitoring of project activities and objectives
 Coordination with schools, community groups, contractors, partners, and community liaisons
 Conducting program evaluations
 Conducting surveys
 Facilitating and documenting meetings with community representatives
 Overseeing UMCOR staff and monitoring staff performance

 Must have a university degree in social sciences, management, business, or other related field AND a minimum of 4 years project management experience
OR
 A minimum of 10 years project management experience
AND:
Must have at least 1 year of experience working with community groups
Must have at least 1 year of experience in working with municipal officials and/or NGO officers
Must have a good knowledge of participatory methods and management
Must have at least two years of experience in community development work
Must have good written and spoken English language skills and good spoken Creole language skills
Must be able to follow directions and work schedules
Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
