Essential Job Functions:

• The Chief Accountant will be responsible for the day to day financial recording financial reporting of the SFF
• Analyzes complex financial data and extracts and defines relevant information; interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability
• Prepares monthly financial statements and management accounts, (Income statement, balance sheet
• Manages departments such as accounts payable and accounts receivable, payroll allocation. Basically, he will oversee every aspect of the SFF finances.
• Trains the supervises to help keep SFF on course financially, and especially, profitable.
• Monitors, identifies, and communicates overexpenditures to faculty and administrative staff.
• Analyzes branches and head office expenditures.
• Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information
• Closely maintains and monitors the fixed assets system.
• Adheres to internal and external deadlines.
• Work with both internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits.
• Maintain system of accounts and keep records on all company transactions and assets
• Ensure integrity of all financial information.
• Coordinate monthly closing process and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
• Responsible for all taxes obligations.
• Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
• Utilize teamwork to develop departmental synergy.
• Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company procedures


Skills
• Chief accountants must be able to effectively relay important financial information to supervisors or clients. He needs to know how to use basic computer software related to the job, and in most instances, possess strong leadership skills to manage the various accounting process. He should be organized, multitask, motivated, professional and highly analytical.
• The Chief accountants should also be able to work well independently, with minimal interaction.


Qualifications Requises

Background
• The Chief accountant must possess a bachelor's degree in accounting
• Must have extensive experience in financial reporting and accounting
• Must have over 4-6 years post qualification experience in supervisory capacity within the finance function.
• Working experience in microfinance of at least 3 years
• Must be a team player
• Willing and able to work with minimum supervision
• Must be able to speak and write Kreyol and French. High level of English is required.
