Introduction
The Program Assistant Advocacy and Capacity Building is responsible for assisting the Program Director (PD) of KAPAB in the management and maintenance of the delivery of quality advocacy programs and projects, ensuring the inclusion of persons with disabilities as envisioned by CBM’s strategic plan for Haiti and USAID RFA No 521-10-033, Haiti Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Persons with Disabilities Program.
Fonctions
• Assist the PD in developing a work plan for activities in line with the KAPAB Project
• Assist the PD in ensuring the effective financial planning, management and reporting of CBM supported Advocacy and Capacity Building Partners
• Assist the PD in coordinating the implementation of activities related to Advocacy and Capacity Building
• Assist the PD in working with the CCO communications team on advocacy messaging and awareness raising
• Liaise with the State Secretary for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities (SEIPH) and other stakeholders relating to advocacy program areas
• Provide knowledge and information when needed to external organizations relating to inclusion and protection of rights for persons with disabilities
• Foster an attitude towards inclusion within mainstream organizations during the development of projects and programs.
• Assist the PD in supporting CBM Advocacy and Capacity Building initiatives
• Assist the PD in identifying training needs and organizing workshops to strengthen support for DPOs and DPOs networks
• Provide timely organizational support to Accessibility Officer in planning and delivering workshops for the benefit of various groups.
• Contribute to the implementation of M&E plans which ensure the timely follow-up of CBM Advocacy and Capacity Building projects
• Provide close support (through on site visits) to CBM partners implementing CBM advocacy initiatives.
Qualifications Requises
• Knowledge of disability issues and advocacy strategy
• Professional experience working with Disabled People Organizations (DPOs)
• Project management
• Good reporting skills
• Proven good organizational skills
• French and Creole are mandatory; good working knowledge in English
• Intercultural knowledge and sensitivity
• Excellent inter-personal skills
• Team player and good communicator with a proven ability to motivate people
• Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity
