The Communications and Awareness Coordinator will define the overall communications strategy for the USAID Improved Cooking Technology Program; designing a communications approach that is in line with USAID’s objectives and effectively reaches target stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the general Haitian public. Additionally, the Coordinator will focus on developing and implementing evidence-based and culturally appropriate education/awareness campaigns focusing on the use of improved cookstoves. The Communications and Awareness Coordinator will also assist in drafting key deliverables and reporting materials such as success stories and annual reports as required by USAID and in collaboration with the project technical team. Main functions will focus on the following areas:
• Design, develop and implement education/awareness activities and campaigns that are suitable for the Haitian context to promote behavioral change related to clean cook stoves and fuel switching;
• Consult and coordinate with local, international and multi-lateral development organizations to help ensure consistent messaging;
• Manage the design, development, production and distribution of public education materials;
• Actively participate in the organization of events, press conferences, workshops, focus groups, trainings, surveys, media briefings and other activities related to program activities;
• Provide support as needed to market surveys and assessment and advise project staff input to drafting of the communication strategies, preparing and editing project reports, and other related documents;
• Engage local media that will be utilized for program education/awareness initiatives;
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of program messages on target populations; and
• Generate success stories and reports describing project progress, achievements and impact.


Qualifications Requises

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• 5-7 years of prior work experience in communications, preferably with USAID or donor-funded projects
• Experience working on education and/or awareness campaigns, particularly in the Haitian context
• Fluency in written and oral French required; working proficiency of English and Haitian Creole highly desired.
