UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a USA based international development agency that provides long-term technical assistance to developing countries. After the January 2010 earthquake, UMCOR intends to help rebuild Haiti focusing its activities in Tabarre, Croix des Bouquets and Port-au-Price in the program sectors of water and sanitation, shelter and livelihoods. It is implementing a three year integrated program that targets interventions across its core sectors on sustainable development programs, working in coordination with national and international agencies based on ongoing needs assessment in consultations with the communities.
UMCOR - Haiti is currently seeking a national Livelihood Assistant. He/she will be based at UMCOR Haiti’s Port au Prince office.
The Livelihood Assistant will be required to work 40 hours per week, with flexible of working hours during the week. He/she will be part of UMCOR’s Livelihood Program under the guidance of the Livelihood Coordinator.
Fonctions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Livelihood Assistant supports the livelihood team with the highest integrity in daily program support, community relations, and maintaining program records and documents. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, teamwork, initiative, and responsiveness.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Record keeping: Ensure comprehensive electronic and hard copy records are kept and filed on all livelihood program matters.
• Reporting: Work with livelihood team to gather data needed for monthly and quarterly reports.
• Community mobilization: Assist livelihood team with dialogue at the community level and support trainings as needed.
• Support along the project cycle: As determined by the Livelihood Coordinator, assist with needs assessments, project identification, project implementation and monitoring and evaluation of livelihood projects.
• Support to coordination: As determined by the Livelihood Coordinator, accompany team at coordination and information sharing meetings.
• Translation support: From English to French and/or Creole and from French and/or Creole to English.
• Other duties as assigned by the Livelihood Coordinator.
Qualifications Requises
• Team player with a positive attitude who is willing to take initiative and proactively improve the work of the team
• Previous experience working with an international non-governmental organization, preferably on livelihoods projects
• Excellent knowledge of French, English and Creole and ability to work professionally in all languages
• Experience working directly with communities on site and beneficiary selection
• Able to deliver on results in a multi-cultural environment
• Previous experience supporting or delivering livelihood-related trainings a plus
• Previous experience supporting gender-inclusive programming with a focus on women a plus
