Introduction
Organization is seeking a Project Accountant for his office based in Haiti. Under supervision of the Senior Finance Manager, the Project Accountant provides overall support to the Finance department including performing the following duties:
Fonctions
• Responsible for maintenance of the computerized accounting system under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), specifically receivables, advances, accounts payable, cash receipts and disbursements, etc.
• Reviews and analyzes financial activity for field office and (sub) projects for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensures compliance with donor accounting and reporting requirements.
• Assists with generating export file and monthly data reporting package preparation..
• Reconciles field office account balances with accounting system.
• Monitors local office cash flow, advances, and funding levels and responds to payment requests.
• Prepares monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts.
• Provides training/orientation for all field staff on travel and other policies, procedures nod financial software.
• Attends assigned programmatic team meetings to become aware of planned programmatic activities, in order to address resulting accounting issues.
Qualifications Requises
• University degree – Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Accounting or related field.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of accounting experience, preferably with an international nonprofit organization.
• Previous experience in expense reporting and reconciliation are highly desired.
• Working knowledge of basic budget and accounting procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret governmental and organizational rules and regulations.
• Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, draw reasonable conclusions and act on them.
• Working knowledge of PC-based software; proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Suite.
• Proficiency with PC based spreadsheets and word processing – experience with Excel, QuickBooks, ACCPAC or similar software desired.
• Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Sound analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under time pressure and tight deadlines.
• Good interpersonal and negotiating skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff, other personnel and vendors.
• Demonstrated ability in oral and written communications skills, both in English and French, in order to effectively present detailed financial information and respond to questions in a professional manner. French Creole a plus.
